I really have slightly mixed feelings about this photo-shoot. Not about the fact that he did it - that's not a problem for me - but it's the "look" in his eyes. These photos were taken in 2001, not long after he got out of rehab and was still, essentially, recovering from a few pretty hard years. He hadn't even recorded/released his solo CD yet, so there was still a lot of fresh emotion and struggle. There's a look in his eyes that is so different than what we see now. It's defensive and daring (as in, I dare you). It's not really all that welcoming. He's still figuring out who he is, and all that.

I can't quite describe it, but our good buddy Mo could probably say it better than me. After you see the pics, let me know what you guys think.
