As others have pointed out here, in its final two years as an oldies station, WCBS FM limited its playlist and that was probably the biggest thing that killed it.

New York is different than other parts of the country. An oldies station should play thousands of songs and not forget the '50s or '60s as so many of the remaining over the air radio stations that play this music seem to do.

Isn't it ironic that the online stream (WCBS FMHD2) has a wider playlist than its earlier counterpart did before Jack entered the radio landscape.
