It is NOT just Marsh Hill Rd., but all of the side roads and main roads in Dracut. When some duffus decided to make Dracut into a city way back when, putting houses on postage stamp lots, our traffic increased (duh!). With the traffic, came kids just learning to drive. These kids don't get the little Ford Pinto's we got as kids for our first car. They get fast, sporty types. Where better for them to "test out their new wheels" but on our streets?

Don't forget to slow down at the elderly center though. They get their own flashing sign as a warning!

Having the cops everywhere is unrealistic, especially at specific times. Plus, there is a system called the "flashing light" system. When someone spots the cop car, they flash at all the speeders coming up the road. Trust me, not many WILL be caught because speeders help other speeders.

Come down and sit on Bouchard Ave, Passaconaway or Lakeshore. Watch how fast they go there! See how many kids, without sidewalks in our town, are dodging cars that are doing 50 in a 25 mph zone. See spot run, or Lexus Speed as he comes down the hill at Passaconaway, while kids are standing at bus stops. Watch how they come up and down Bouchard, which is very wavy, and how they don't see the kids over the next little hill until they are on top of them!

I feel for you, and understand your frustration, but the cops, alone can not do a thing. Dracut has gotten far too big, with too many cars, making us more like Lowell than Lowell is! And, since there is no easy access to 93 or 495, the back roads are how everyone is getting access to these routes. The only thing I can see is vigilante justice, in which neighbors stand out and shoot bb guns at the tires, causing them to blow out. But, with our luck, a kid will be in the way of that car and will be killed.

Let's hope they only GET a speeding ticket, and not kill a child or adult before then.

Good luck on your mission, but I have been fighting this for 9 years now, and have gotten no where.
