Dear mcas concerned,

I agree with you completely and have much more to say on the subject. Children with learning disabilities are also categorized and unless they are extremely hanicapped they will have to pass the mcas or fail and repeat. I think all parents of children with even the slightest learning disability should be up in arms because all children do learn differently especially children with learning disabilities. Take a look at children diagnosed with ADHD. These children are very bright yet they learn in a completely different way as do children with other learning disabilities. I remember when these particular students had help with their learning and so did the teachers. I don't know how the teachers get through one day after another with all these new demands on them and having to do it all by themselves. Most teachers really care for the studentspersonal ability to learn and deal with them accordingly but they are so focused on the mcas that it seems to be top prioroty, rather than the question of how much stress this pressure is putting on the children with the learning disablity. ADHD children will simply shut down when they feel exaperated. Where is the concern and help for these children and their teachers. We used to put these issues first now all anyone can think of is how well their gonna do on the mcas. The children with learning disabilities are being treated indisciminately.
