It is not a question of who has more authority, a crossing guard or a police officer. It is a question of training. A crossing guard has all the authority to direct traffic. Believe it or not, directing traffic at a busy way such as Lakeview Ave is not an easy thing to do. I agree, that is a nightmare, and also a safety issue. I think with a proper training program for the crossing guards, would benefit this situation. Putting another crossing guard at the school exit would help. ONLY if they are in sync with one another.

And Fuji…must I address your urban legend thinking? NO, I might get all huffy puffy and sip my coffee the wrong way.
