Originally, there was going to be an additional entrance/egress for the school complex as part of the Junior High project. That was one of the reasons I supported putting yet another school there. Somehow, however, that part of the planning got lost in the execution.

However, there is a plan to "signalize" Lakeview Avenue from just south of Phineas Street (Birch Street, I think) up to and including the school complex. There will be three or four lights, synchronized supposedly, although I fear a lack of execution in the future in that regard as well. You may recall the engineering company had the time-of-day reversed during the demonstration of its little traffic model when they presented it to the Board of Selectmen a couple of years ago.

Anyway, said signalization is supposed to provide traffic lights for the intersections of Phineas, New Boston, Frederick and the not-yet-Daoulas school complex. It has been delayed because of other priorities, but it is designed and approved. Without this delay, it would have been installed starting about now.

In the meantime, Dracut Police can and should help out with egress from the school complex whenever there is a need. Call the station at 957-2123 and complain if they don't show.
