Subject: traffic control

Now that we will actually have another school opening and more children in the area, can we focus on the traffic on Lakeview Avenue. Trying to leave any school after 2pm is difficult. There is a CROSSING GUARD stationed at that intersection, but since I pick up my children every day I do get to see the days that the Middle/Brookside School children leave and walk home and MANY times the crossing guard is gone. It seems that he is gone by 2:30 pm. This is not a realistic time since there are still kids coming up the driveway.
Next issue. I understand that a crossing guard only is suppose to cross the children. We need a traffic light or a traffic officer for this time frame. It is totally deadlocked and you can not even more for up to ten minutes at a time. This needs to be addressed and settled before September. My children and myself almost got hit this morning trying to cross on Lakeview. We were in the crosswalk and traffic had stopped, we were crosssing the first lane of traffic when a car zoomed by us in the turning lane. Two more steps and one of us would have been hit. What can we do about this road? I had heard a rumor of lights last year?
