In reply to: Anthony 's message, "EMOTION" on 07:54:01 05/18/01 Fri

I am not an angry girl
but it seems like
I've got
everyone fooled
everytime I say
something they find hard to hear,
they chalk it up to my anger
and never to their own fear

I totally agree with what Gavin De Becker has to say about fear. It's like our fear is the fabled "sixth sense", warning us when danger is near. So our emotions are there for a reason. They are part of our sensory tools, not things to be ignored. I think the "No Fear" thing is another product of machismo mentality, the posturing of insecure males. But if by "No Fear" they really mean "Control your fear, don't let it control you" or "Use your fear to your advantage" (which I think they don't), then I can see something worthwhile in the sentiment. But the absence of fear is probably a sign of insanity or stupidity. Those claiming that they have "No Fear" or that they "Ain't Skeerd" or whatever most likely DO have a lot of fear AND a lot of ego.

Yes, it is indeed I, here to say...

Our Doubts are Traitors
and make us Lose the Good we oft might win
by Fearing to Attempt
