I find this round of debate very disheartening. There are a number of things in this line of agreeing that I think are overlooked. I will get into them, but I just wanted to point out that pro-life does not have to equal religious right, just as pro-choice does not have to equal extreme fascist left. With that said the first thing I must disagree with is the use of the word idiots to describe someone who is pro-life. There are many, most, if not almost all pro-life people that are not the crazy radicals you would likely see on an HBO special. They are rational, caring people who do not want to suppress a woman's rights as much as they just have a broader vision of what is meant by "alive." Please do not associate all of them with crazy religious zealots or "idiots." Second, you SEEM to hint at the fact that abortion is the solvent to the chunky mix of female problems when you mention rape or incest and abortion. I feel there are some people that do beleive that abortion should be outlawed in any form, but most people I know think that violent conception is a viable reason for abortion. Third, and I will end with this, you both mentioned unwanted children and how they are a burden to society, and proceeded to offer abortion as an end to this. Well, I must ask you this, does the abortion method as a use for birth control really seem moral in your eyes? Can you really look at this, I mean really look at what is happening, and say let people have all the sex they want, and just let the woman get rid of the baby later. It is up to her. Well I am all for equality, vehemently when it comes to this concept for women. However this is what I wonder, what is a more enlightened view: a choice to an action, which could or could not be murder (no one has really made a convincing argument either way), OR responsibility with ones sexual activity? We will never stop the flow of unwanted children anyway, so maybe we should learn to handle their existance.
