WEll there you have it...another year, another previous First Runner up as your winner. I would venture to say that it was somewhat of a lackluster pageant, because it was fairly obvious who the winner could and would be. Telegenically speaking Brook Daniels radiates, from those that have seen her in person, they have a different perspective. Some say she looks too barbie-ish. I would tend to agree, but that does not deny the fact that she is a beautiful girl and rightfully deserved the crown. She did well enough in interview to secure the win. Did she win interview?..No...I would have given it to Houston or Lake Austin...although Montgomery Co didnt do too shabby. Port Laredo had the most to gain once in the top 5...hometown crowd and great answers could have gotten her the crown, unfortunately she came across as smug, therefore her placing. I think they need to tone down Brooke a little. It would help if she didnt look like a tangerine as she did tonight. Maybe de-platinumize her hair a smidge. Just a thought. Again, these are things that can enhance and make a contender of an already pretty girl. Houston was deserving of her placing due to her strong answers, although I would have placed her lower cause she was not facially prettier that others that placed lower.
As for the rest of the 15....
NOrth Central Tex. Candice.why did you have to keep your mouth open during SS presentation?.... oy!
Central S Texas Frenchellen was a top 5 swimsuit to me. too bad the gown was kinda bland, great fit though!!
RGV-way to work it, now work on that booty for next year!
Dallas Co. great walk, tall!!! great body
So Central Tx. ...poor Val was stuck between dallas Co and Lake Austin...not a good spot to be in the lineup, you could see the difference.... didnt look as confident
Lake Austin- she was great in SS, and I will recant my words from earlier and say that the gown really worked for her...something about Tahnae in green that stands out!!!!
El Paso- her hair in ev gown was thrown together, if she would have just fixed it differently, it could have made the difference.
Bayou City- Proved she wasnt a fluke, awesome SS, although looked very reserved in her presentation for both.
Laredo- was it me or did she look like she was sleepwalking through evening gown?
Centroplex- now I know why she made it, she has one of the best walks of any of the top 15. She was working it and selling herself. It looked like she had an outside chance at the top 5.
Dallas... beautiful dress... looked a little too thin in SS...had her in my top 5 though. She will come back and will be battling it out with Lake Austin.
My final standings after interview would have been:
4th runner up Port Laredo- was somewhat smug
3rd runner up Houston-good answers but not as pretty
2nd runner up Montgomery Co.- solid answers, nothing spectacular
1st runner up Lake Austin-came across very sure and educated in her answers
Winner: Harris County- sounded competent enough for the win
Overall it was a good pageant, again rather anticlimactic due to the obvious victor.
Will we repeat at USA?...remains to be seen, but I would venture to say we have a lock in the Top 15.
Kudos to Mandy for doing a great job as host...loved the red dress!!!
Also loved all the Crystle moments....they did a great job incorporating her into the programming. Loved the good-bye message!!
Again this is my Opinion, but what are your thoughts??

- I thought Port Laredo (Anna) seemed very different tonight from past years with her stage presence. Laredo definitely needed to smile more and put a little more energy into her walk. She looked very passive. (NT) -- ., 06/30/08 1:21:30am
- I too liked Tahnae in green. One thing that I did notice in interview was that she kinds slumped on the podeum and squinted while listening to the questions (NT) -- I would have liked to see her stand up straight and not make that face while taking the questions....answers were good though., 06/30/08 1:35:26am
- A COUPLE MORE RANDOM THOUGHTS: what do you think Candace told RGV when they were posing at the end of swimsuit?.... Did anyone else also see Candace react to when her little sis was called into the 15?.... Dallas looked great but upon further review, may have looked a little dated and thats why she was not chosen....watch out next year for Christina, Tahnae, and Raevan!! (NT) -- Texas Freak, 06/30/08 3:05:36am
- BORING RESULTS, I would have prefered one of the Campfield sisters to win (especially Christina) instead of the predictible Brooke Daniels.Anyway, Congratulations to the new winner. (NT) -- When did the Miss TX USA pageant become so boring?, 06/30/08 3:13:03am
- I am glad Brooke won. I am not feeling the Campfield sisters. I did not like Christina's hair and Candace, well, I did not care for her at all. (NT) -- They got it right with Brooke., 06/30/08 9:28:47am
- and another random thought: what was up with the guys in swimsuits?...were those the singing cadets, cause they looked too hot to go to ATM? (NT) -- Texas Freak, 06/30/08 8:28:22pm
- I actually loved both Campfield girls. And it needs to clearfied that the only reason Candace returned was to go the pageant with her sister. Of course she would have loved to win but she just wanted to do this with her sister. (NT) -- hopefully at least Christina will come back, once agin loved both girls including candace's actions on stage., 07/ 1/08 1:42:35pm
- How each family choose's too spend their money and time is their business. Once again you worry about your daughter and I am sure the Campfield's will worry about how they spend their money. (NT) -- Do not feel it was a waste or sleep over. They are very happy with their time together and their placement., 07/ 1/08 4:17:57pm
