My picks are based on previous competition knowledge, personal review, and photographs. There were a couple of girls I had never seen before and some obvious familiar faces. I will say that there are a couple of girls that I can't believe are still in the teen category! They've competed so many times before that I just assumed they were misses at this point. My hat's off to all the girls as this is one tough year! I had 18 solid girls and at leat 10 others that I could have gone either way with. It was challenging, but I finally narrowed it down to 15.

DAIELL CAMPAIGN PROMOTES COLE-PEARSON TO CAMPAIGN MANAGER

(Houston) - Jeff Daiell, a candidate for the 2010 Libertarian nomination for Governor of Texas, has appointed Christie Cole-Pearson as his Campaign Manager. Ms. Pearson will be responsible for developing a multidimensional field strategy, mobilizing and coordinating volunteer efforts and activities.

"The Jeff Daiell campaign will provide a vehicle for voters who respect both civil liberties and the free market, reaching across party lines and the political spectrum. We are not conceding a single constituency or a single county to the two tax-subsidized parties." explains Ms. Pearson.

As a Libertarian, Jeff Daiell’s positions allow for an advantage on the gubernatorial playing field. Daiell’s platform includes the Texas Affordable School Choice plan; refocusing of law-enforcement resources away from lifestyle crimes to concentrate instead exclusively against violence, theft, and fraud; and respect for The Tenth Amendment. Complemented with a campaign manager who fosters the importance of Responsibility of Self as well as a dedication to Civil Liberties and Personal Freedoms, this combination is a reflection of efforts that are hard at work to provide Texans with the progressive leadership they deserve. The candidate welcomed Ms. Pearson into her new position stating, “I'm confident that Ms. Pearson's leadership ability to lead our campaign efforts will speak volumes. Her leadership experience is matched only by her commitment to serving the community and helping those in need of assistance."

As the founder of Luggage for Kids, Ms. Pearson has lead grassroots involvement activities to coordinate and provide donated luggage to Children's Protective Service for children in foster homes. She also hosts the quarterly blood drives at Gulf Interstate Engineering. Ms. Pearson has successfully transitioned her leadership skills from pageantry to public service.

I'm sorry! I know we've moved onto teens but I have a question about one of the Miss contestants. Just from looking at pictures, I am a HUGE fan of Taylor Britten and I think she has one of the most unique looks in the system. But for whatever reason, both last year and this year, there was hardly any talk about her chances at all. And then she makes the Top 5 both years, and still no one says much.

Does she still have more years to compete? I certainly hope so. I could definitely see her wearing the crown, what do you guys say?

I would love to hear from actual judges of USA pageants about what things "draw" you to girls, teens in particular, since TEXAS TEEN is weeks away. Some say it is won in interview, but since USA focuses on beauty so much, why would it be won in interview alone? What is it during interview that a judge seeks? Speaking skills? Impressive resume? Beauty?

I am the mother of the beautiful teenager ya'll are discussing. I happened to come across this website & I am quite appalled by the fact that some bubble brain would actually think a teenager would represent a titty bar in a pageant. Trophy Club is a beautiful upscale suburb NORTH OF Dallas & Ft Worth. It was founded in 1985 by BEN HOGAN the famous golfer. The town circles the master planned golf course Mr. Hogan created to hold all his trophys. Trophy Club is next to the town of WESTLAKE where the JONAS BROTHERS LIVE.

WE DID NOT HEAR ANYONE LAUGHING OR TALKING BEHIND HER BACK LAST YEAR. SHE HAD A GREAT TIME. ITS THE MORONS THAT WOULD COMPARE A TOWN TO A BAR THAT WOULD THINK THAT. This was the first I ever heard about this nonsense. No my husband doesn't own a titty bar. THERE ARE NO BARS IN TROPHY CLUB OR NEARBY SURROUNDING AREAS.

WE moved here almost 7 years ago from Long Island, NY. We love it here in Trophy Club. The town slogan is " TROPHY CLUB A GREAT PLACE TO CALL HOME" AND IT IS..NO TITTY OR ANY OTHER KIND OF BARS HERE!

THANK YOU MEMAW FOR PROTECTING THE HONOR OF MY BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER, BIANCA.

SUZANNE

We are leaving the Best of the Best Nomination Period open throughout the pageant season!!!

When 2009 officially ends, we will accept nominations until January 31, 2010.

Please visit www.tftj.com/forms/BestOf.htm to nominated your favorite contestant in evening gown, active wear, swimsuit, and more. You can also nominate your favorite director, pageant set/stage, supplier, trainer.

YOU CAN nominate yourself. No one will know!!!!

You only need to nominate yourself one time. Voting for on-stage competitions (swimsuit, evening gown, etc) will take place in February 2010.

The earlier the nomination comes in, the more time I have to process them to ensure we start the voting for the On-Stage Awards on time and sort through the testimonials for the Off-Stage awards.

I cannot wait to see your vote for Best of the Best in 2009!!!

Date Posted: 09/28/09 12:56:53pm

In review, I thought the Bay Area pageant was a really good one! A few unexpected surprises always make things interesting, and this pageant held a few. The first bit of irony was that both 4th runners-up in Miss and Teen at Houston this year are the new Bay Area titleholders.
Teen results:
Winner—Jessica Mitchell – best in swimsuit, beautiful gown and pretty good speaking ability helped her edge past her four blonde runners-up. In a bit of a surprise, she won Photogenic as well. She has a natural prettiness and with a bit more interview/speaking experience, I could see her doing very well on the state level. I’m sure she is thrilled.
Hannah Kirkland was first runner-up and is absolutely beautiful! I thought she was a shoe-in for Photogenic, but different people see different things. Quite a few people thought she should have won, but she is still very much a state level contender.
Jessica Wiggins, Amanda Oswald and Alexis Eldridge finished 2-4th r-up, in that order.
Wiggins was as consistent as she was when she 3rd runnered-up at Houston. Oswald slipped from last year’s 1st runner-up spot, but she is pretty and has a huge amount of potential to do very well in the future. Eldridge is a real cutey-pie. Hope Wetter and Lorin Mata are on my radar as ones to watch if they obtain some experience.
Miss results:
Winner—Nicole Golyer pulled a bit of an upset over some girls who outranked her at Texas USA three weeks ago, but she proved to have the best overall performance this time. She has a great swimsuit and Gaspar Cruz put her in a beautiful bright yellow gown that allowed her to glow. Her speaking abilities were much better than her performance at Houston and this pageant proved to be her breakthrough that she has been tapping on the door for some time now. She’s a beautiful girl.
Kallye Mitchell gave Nicole a run for her money, but came in second. Now that she has a taste of the top 5, I believe she will be a favorite when Miss Houston comes around. Thamer Favor made a fantastic showing, finishing 2nd r-up in her first Miss pageant. She’s petite, but soooooooo pretty! She just seems so likeable. Once again, Lauren Sapaugh was a runner-up, though I am not certain what she could do any better. ? She has a killer swimsuit, the MOST beautiful gown and was even named Miss Congeniality. Her speaking skills were excellent and several people mentioned that they felt she was under-ranked. Though there weren’t a lot of contestants, there was a high quality, so all the girls deserved their spots. Sarah Peters, who looked great in swimsuit, finished 5th. Brittney Randolph won Photogenic in Miss. Congrats to the winners, and to the others I would say, keep following your dream!

The first official kick-off for the pageant season--Miss Bay Area--started today and culminates in the crowning of the new Miss and Teen winners tomorrow in Clear Lake City, Texas.
Several recognized names are in the running, including Lauren Sapaugh, Kallye Mitchell, and Nicole Golyer as well as Brittney Randolph and Trishia Wiggins, who all competed at Miss Texas USA a couple of weeks ago. Sarah Peters is competing in Miss as well a couple of other cute girls. Former Teens Thamer Favor and Ashton Theiss have moved up to the Miss division. The Teen division has Hannah Kirkland, Jessica Mitchell, Jessica Wiggins and Amanda Oswald among the more recognizable names. Should be a great pageant! I will be attending and will try to give an update afterwards.

I originally thought Ana's gown was a version of Brooke's with a little of Lauren Lanning's in it with the straps - however, after relooking at the photos, I discovered it is an entirely different gown and an extremely interesting one!

It looks like velvet (maybe?) on one side with a fade into full beading on the other side... and the beaded straps are only one side.

Its really pretty, kind of draws your attention to the gown more than the girl IN the gown, but I like that she got really creative and made a new twist on a very classic style.

I purchased it at Elizabeth Anthony and it has only been worn for three interviews, so it is in immaculate condition. It is my FAVORITE suit, but I have no need for it anymore and I'm clearing out my closet! For what its worth, I placed in the Top 20 at Miss Texas USA the year I wore it - its just an incredible, sleek, classy and professional suit.

My critique contains woman that I believe either are strong contenders for Top 15 this year OR have the POTENTIAL to be strong competitors in the future. A couple are included because their past success at state have proven them to be strong contenders even though I puzzled by their success. Personally, I think the top three will come down to Houston, Central Texas, and El Paso.

Austin: It’s obvious she came prepared and her experience puts her at least in the Top 10. My only criticism would be that she should switch back to her dress from Austin since it flattered her more. This dress she is wearing kind of reminds me of fish scales. Her voice can sometimes reach a pitch that makes me cringe but that can be easily controlled. Overall, she is a gorgeous girl that will always be a strong contender at state. (PS..I have my battle gear and lightsaver ready to battle you Raven Fanatics about my critic)

Brownsville: I have always loved watching this girl progress through her pageant career. I think she has the face of a Miss Venezuela. However, it seems as if there are too many “off” details that are going to hurt her from making Top 15. Since she is “vertically challenged” (I know how offended people get on this board when you mention the height debate.) she has to make sure that she is at the top of her game in every aspect of this pageant. This woman needs hook up with JJ Smith to tidy up the ends.

Brazos Valley: Hair, Gown, and Body all look Awesome. For being so young she seems very put together. If she lived in Arizona or Nevada, I could easily see this girl at Miss USA.

Central Texas: WOWZERS!! She has everything put together this year! Although some might think her interview outfit was a bit costumey/overexposed…I feel she embodies the glamour and sex appeal a Miss Texas USA is supposed to have. I don’t think she has the most beautiful face in the pageant but I do think she is the one to give Miss Houston a run for her money.

DFW: It’s obvious this girl has what it takes to walk across the Miss USA stage. She came this year at the top of her game. I honestly can’t think of a single thing she could have done to improve her chances at the crown.

Dallas: I am still on the fence with Tiner. I have no doubt she won’t make Top 15. She is coming with experience and the force of having a strong team behind her this year. However, as strong as she might be…I just can’t see a Miss Texas USA crown on her head…ever.

El Paso: Love her! She is gorgeous, has a great body and the height to make any Miss Puerto Rico nervous. I’ve never seen her on stage, but if her speaking/walking matches her looks than she could easily be a top 5 contender. We need to send her to JJ Smith to groom her for Miss USA one day!

Fort Worth: This woman reminds me of Kasi Kelly. I think with a bit more preparation and a stronger team she has potential to be a strong contender later on. (However, potential won’t get you anywhere unless you take the initiative)

Gulf Coast: I just don’t get this girl. However, she did come prepared to state and her Top 5 placement shows she does know how to connect with the judges.

Harris Co.: Same comments as Gulf Coast. Personally, I think she peaked two years ago. However, her attitude and walk would even make Tyra Banks want to give two snaps and a head swerve for her fierceness.

Houston: Hello future Miss Universe! Just put a sexier gown on this woman and we won’t even need to have a Miss USA competition. She could easily stand between Miss Venezuela and Miss Puerto Rico and still be able to hold her own ground.

Heart of Texas: It is apparent that she genuinely enjoys the spirit of pageantry. She seems to always come to state excited and prepared. I think she has a really good shot at Top 15 this year.

North Arlington: This woman is undeniably gorgeous. She looks great on stage and has a great chance at Top 15. The only thing I would have changed was her interview suit. It seems to age her and does not flatter her at all. If she is able to crack Top 15 tonight I honestly believe she will make it to Top 10 as well.

Park City: I ADORE her interview outfit! She seems to always do good at local competitions but for some reason hasn’t been able to crack Texas yet. However, I think if she can keep her cool than this is the year she finally cracks Texas.

Rio Grande Valley: THAT DRESS!!! I am in love with that dress. Everything about it is right and really makes her stand apart from the rest. She has really stepped up her game from the last time she went to state. Her interview suit, pageant dress, and body combined maker her a strong contender for Top 15.

San Antonio: It seems this woman only gets better throughout the years. Her days of awkwardly walking across the stage as Miss Medina Co. have been replaced with a grace that only comes with experience with a dash of class. She is the perfect example of how pageantry can have a positive influence on women.

South Texas: I really don’t see much a difference from last year. From what history shows women who win Texas are constantly evolving and stepping up their game each year. She came prepared to make Top 15, but I don’t see a Top 5 placement this year.

State Capital: This woman’s personality and unintentional sex appeal will take her far in pageantry. However, she doesn’t seem put together with both her interview and evening gown look. Lets be honest though, this girl could show up to state with a Moo-Moo on and UGG boots and still makeTop 10.

Southeast Texas: I have no idea how she made 1st runner up at Houston this year! I’ll just stop there since I don’t have anything else nice to say.

Southlake: Her interview suit reminds me of a go-go dancers costume from an Austin Power’s move. Her gown also seems a bit outdated as well. With that being said, she is undoubtedly gorgeous and really has potential to be a contender with just the right stylist.

Whitney Lake: She has really transformed from the first time she came to state. She comes across as genuine and well put together. I think she has a good shot of cracking Top 15 this year.

Couple of side notes:

Dear Debbie Chavez, you really know how to groom your ladies for success! For not having the luxury that the Houston Team has in having every Texas sponsor right across the corner, you have taken the valley to the next step.

In regards to Personal Interview: I applaud the women for attempting to be fashion forward, however it seems a large majority of girls showed up ready to go to a party instead of a professional interview.

For losing a large sponsor and having to move to a smaller venue, The Clarks really did an Amazing job with the stage. This year could have been a total disaster but it seems as if they did the best with what they could work with.

I hope Texas follows the lead of Miss USA and asks challenging final questions. I am tired of seeing pageant queens that can only speak what has been rehearsed to them and would love to see a woman with both beauty and wit as our representative.

Some of these white girls need to lay off the fake bake. They are darker than some Latin women on stage. I have the feeling if Brittany Tiner and Candace Campfield stood next to Crystal Stewart, they would defiantly make her look like a white girl!
