  • It's been unclear but there always seems to be a reason why someone, like Danielle, is allowed to compete elsewhere. But, all of that aside, the boundaries are supposed to be in force.     • Not all directors are using boudaries. You do not have to live in the Waco area to compete in Waco or Centralplex. Last year, I think that neither Erika H or Stephanie, the winners of Lubbock Teen and Miss Lubbock, were living in Lubbock when they won, but both were planning to attend Texas Tech in the fall so they were allowed to compete in the spring. It really is up to the individual director to decide who can compete. These are independent pageants feeding into Miss TX USA. It would appear that they can make their own rules for who qualifies. • It is my understanding that last yr. the pre-lims were more open but this yr. at Miss Tx. Teen the directors signed an agreement about having boundaries. If you do not have a pre-lim in your area than you need to ask the director in the pre-lim that is closest to your area. Directors will work with girls who are going to college in their area in the fall. Look at Miss Dallas site under eligibility and see the counties that he outlined. http://www.missdallaspageant.com/eligibility.php Even though the pre-lims are not "official" they are still official recruiters for Miss Texas/Miss Texas Teen USA and all directors sign a contract with the Crystal Group. • Texas Pageant Expo was so much fun!! I'll definitely go again next year. Will did a great job! There was a fashoin show put on by Wardrobe, The Boutique. Great fashions. Gowns, cocktail dresses and fun fashions by all the best designers. Sherri Hill and Steven Yurick were there. The title holders parade was exciting too. Then they had an red carpet autograph session with the current state title holders. Miss Texas USA wearing a purple gown and Miss Texas Teen USA wearing a blue and silver dress looked beautiful!! And yes, there were girls there from other states too. Nice to be able to meet them and see them in person. All the pageant systems were represented there. I did hear that Fadil and a couple of other pageant and fashion photographers were there for photoshoots. Lots of booths and prize give-aways!!! Definitely a HUGE HIT!!! • Since most of the top 10 at both pageants wore gowns by Sherri Hill, I would say something designed specifically for them by Sherri Hill. For the teen, something flowing and teen looking-I loved Lubbock Teen's gown and Harris County's gown and thought they were really prettier gowns than the winner's gown. • I don't think that you need to use the sponsors to win anynore. In the old days, the sponsors actually communicated with the Clarks and shared info about the girls, but I don't know that that happens anymore. I think all of the sponsors are good, but EA 's gowns are very expensive and I think you can get the same gown for less elsewhere.   • Thank you for your answer. I would like to know what others think about this. I don't think any girls this year used any Carlos Alberto gowns unless I am wrong. • Absolutely not necessary to use gowns or any other services from sponsors. Some may believe using other sponsors is necessary, but I don't think so either.     • My daughter has worked with NOB, Lauren Lanning, Valerie Hayes, Don Baker, Elise Horner, and Eleese Lester over the years. She found all of them to be very professional and each offered something unique. Don Baker charges $150/hr. Eleese Lester used to charge $100. Elise Horner charges $100 I believe. NOB and Lauren Lanning charge less than $100 per hour. Lauren Lanning has a new website, I believe, as does Elise Horner. Valerie Hayes charges $150/hr. JJ SMith has a website with his rates. I have to say though that it doesn't matter how much trainiing from these people you have if you aren't in good swimsuit shape so I would focus on that first! Does Magen Ellis train girls?       • And I think everyone has to be realistic and honest about their daughter's shot at top 5 at TX Teen. I know everyone thinks their girl is the prettiest, but be realistic. If your girl is not getting top 5 at multiple prelims, or if she hasn't made top 15 at TX Teen after a couple of tries, do some soul searching. Pageants are great fun and have a ton of personal benefits. If that is enough satisfaction, perfect. But, I do not believe in the Crystle Stewart or Kandace Krueger philosophy of "keep trying" or "never give up". Those two were destined to win and the time just had to be right.   • Her pictures from the Laredo pageant show a very different looking young lady. I do NOT think she would have won TX Teen without the nose job. IMO, she got it to win TX Teen. Why else would she have gotten it done after? I think she is beautiful and is someone who benefited greatly from having one. • I'm 19, compete in pageants, and just got rhinoplasty as well, it was the best decision I've ever made! I didn't do it to help me win a pageant, because I was just fine with my old nose, but ever since I was 12 I have been self conscious about my nose. Now I am confident and look great! I don't think her age is a major issue with the procedure, because if that was the case the doctor would not operate on her. The important thing is that she did it for herself and her own confidence.
