Of course here in Texas we would still have the girls who paid hundreds of dollars to the hair and makeup artist before they arrived to make themselves look over the top in their photo! Carter Studios from South Carolina came down and offered these girls a shoot and five jpegs for $500.00. That means they own all rights to their own photos, instead of Arthur who takes the pictures and gives you two 5x7's but you still don't own the rights to the pictures. That makes a huge difference! I am pretty sure that at least Shannon McNamara's headshot was done by them. In this economy, I agree, many of the contestants are going to have to do things differently so that they can afford to compete. Replies: The way Texas USA and most prelims do their scoring is like this: The judges are asked to circle their top 15 favorites in each 3 categories. From there, the scoring is tabulated based on the top 15 with the most amount of points. You get a point for each category from each judge. So if you have 5 judges and 3 categories the maximum amount of points a contestant can receive is 15. Once the top 5 is announced they are ranked by each judge as winner, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. There is a point system associated with this as well. Sometimes the 1st RU was not the majority for the judges, but because of the point system it worked out that way. Hope this helps. I think that Frenchie may make it because of her title. I never got Sarah B. and the Campfield sisters-to me they are pretty but not over the top. It's just an opinion. Youval does a wonderful job of taking a good photo and making it great, without overdoing it. He works with you until you are happy. His fee is $45 for one photo and it is well worth it. So if you have a good photo of yourself and you want to step it up to pageant quality, his service is a great alternative to going to the higher priced photographers-especially in this economy.
