I am SOOOO excited for tomorrow night! I have to say it is the year of the blonde. The reason I say this is because there are so many HOT blondes this year... beautiful girls! I have to say that Brooke Daniels is a front runner, but there are soo many tall blondes that resemble here.. I don't know how the judges are going to keep all of them out of the top 15 :) Candace looks great, along with Lauren, Port Laredo, and SOOO many others. I am a little dissapointed with Valerie in evening gown, she didn't stand out to me. Good luck to all the girls, I will probably have more comments later, but am getting ready for bed!

I do have a question though... I can't find Miss Texas on TV for tomorrow. I have comcast, and on the Miss Texas site, it says it will be aired on channel 11, which is ABC. I checked NBC, and all of them.. but can't find it. I have to work and was going to record it, but can't find it. If any one can help... it would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!!!

Good luck to all the girls! It is anybody's game!!!!

Dear old friends and new friends,

It was great to see many of you again in the hot city of Laredo. For those of you who could not be here let me say this… photos can’t explained what happened here in Laredo or between the girls. As I sit here and go back to day one and think about everything that went on. Texas girls are the best! I heard about a contestant that had her things stolen from her car. I am talking about gown, interview, etc! Some girls came through and helped her with EVERYTHING! Now…. ValleyQueens.Com… well… everyone that owns a website loves getting “hits”, but in my case we got “punches”! At the same time we got so much support from many of you. You know who you are… for that I say THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP AND FOR YOUR TIME. 2 cents… thank you for helping me post things while I was on the road or couldn’t get to a computer. To all the Mods and visitors…. Thank YOU. Tonight or later in the morning the photos from the Autograph Party should be uploaded. Then on Sunday I will be there for Final Night and Coronation Ball. This might be the last time I post here for now. Again… Thank you all and hope to see you in the future or at another pageant. Here is my e-mail just in case you would like to contact me vq@valleyqueens.com or valleyqueens@gmail.com . Our myspace is www.myspace.com/valleyqueens

Take care friends.

WOW, you'd think we'd learn! What a difference preliminaries make! Thanks to VQ for their efforts in getting the swimsuit pics up so quickly, particularly given the extraordinary situation with the new server.

I was wrong in thinking the first year Teen to Miss crossovers had little chance to make the Top 15. Christina Campfield has impressed me with every pic since she arrived in Laredo, and Lorena Tavera is simply outstanding in swimsuit. I was also wrong about Lauren Sapaugh. Her swimsuit figure makes it obvious why she is a top contender. And I really think despite being 2RU last year, Ana Rodriguez is really being underrated.

Here are my top 25 in Swimsuit. I look first and foremost at figure, then at the face.

SS Top 5:
Bayou City - Lauren Sapaugh
Dallas - Christina Campfield
El Paso - Lorena Tavera
Lake Austin - Tahnae Tarkenton
Port Loredo - Ana Rodriguez

SS Top 10:
Heart of Texas - Michele Cude
Katy - Raquel Tidwell
Lake Whitney - Sarah Boehner
Montgomery Co. - Taylor Britton
No. Central TX - Candace Campfield

SS Top 15 - these 5 would make my top 15 based solely on their face, because their figures aren't what I consider top 15 worthy:
Fort Bend Co. - Nicole Daaboul
Harris Co. - Brooke Daniels
Houston - Elise Horner
No. Texas - Whitney Jarrett
So. Central TX - Valerie Pro

I also liked these 10 in swimsuit:
Austin - Atia Willis
Bell Co. - Blayne Fisher
Bexar Co. - Cassidy Klein
Coastal Bend - Felicia Chapa
Coastal Plains - Sheena Monnin
Dallas Co. - Lindsey Harvey
DFW - Lacey Bollinger
Forth Worth - Tavisty Tarkenton
Gulf Coast - Desiree Gonzales
N. Richland Hills - Juliana Cramer

Finally, I think swimsuit knocked these 5 out of contention for a spot in the top 15:
Beaumont - Kallye Mitchell (sorry, Kallye hyper, her SS isn't good!)
Capital of Texas - Megan McAnelly (a "Team Crystle" would do wonders for this girl, she just needs some fine tuning!)
Centroplex - Raevan Valadez (obviously did some work, but needs more time)
Rockwall - Jordan Strauss (WOW. And I don't mean that in a good way)
Tarrant Co. - Linda Arias (I give up on this girl)

Thanks again to ValleyQueens for such a wonderful job!

OK! I am so mad, but I will do this for now. I will go down to the lobby and dump the photos there. All photos will be watermarked with VQ logo on it. If you decide to email some photos it is up to you. You can't print them at all and even if you try to print them they will come out fuzzy. This is out of respect for Select Studios. I don't know what else to do. Thank you all who have helped and hope it is back soon. I will also try to check the connection at a different hotel. So I will be dumping my files in 1 hour. For those of you new to the pageant system tonight is a fun night. It is a chance for the Miss Texas USA emmy award winning TV program to practice their stuff. The TV people will explain to you, the audience, how it is going to be tomorrow night and tell you when to yell and such. There will be breaks for commercials. Watch the monitors your daughter may be in a shot on national tv. It will then start out with opening number and then announce the mock top 15....if we are lucky only 15. Don't be dismayed if your daughter isn't name to the top 15. How those girls are chosen is anybody's guess, however last year there were hardly any of the actual top 15 in the mock 15. All girls last year were grateful not to have to compete as a mock because their feet were killing them due to the shoes Miss Texas had provided. The mock 15 will compete in swimsuit and evening gown and then they will reduce the number to the top 5. I personally liked it when they reduced to top 10 after swimsuit. There will be singing cadets and then top 5 will answer questions. They will announce 4th,3rd, 2nd runner ups and then a rogue contestant from the bleachers will run out and be crowned Miss texas usa. Confetti will fall and everything. They want to be sure everything works. Afterwards the girls may change gowns and go out into the lobby and mingle. There will be photos and autographs being taken and given. There will be moms scooping out the competition up close and personal. It is a fun event to watch if you are a people watcher. It is fun and the main event is tomorrow night. One girl will be named Miss Texas USA and go home with the crown and mustang and many others will go home with hopefully wonderful memories and dreams of coming back and taking the crown next year. Have fun tonight...tomorrow is another day.

What Is A Domain Name Server (DNS) And How Does It Work?
Domain Name Servers (DNS) are the Internet's equivalent of a phone book. They maintain a directory of domain names and translate them to Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.

This is necessary because, although domain names are easy for people to remember, computers or machines, access Web sites based on IP addresses.

Information from all the domain name servers across the Internet are gathered together and housed at the Central Registry. Host companies and Internet Service Providers interact with the Central Registry on a regular schedule to get updated DNS information.

When you type in a Web site address, e.g., www.siteauthor.com, your Internet Service Provider views the DNS associated with the domain name, translates it into a machine friendly IP address (for example 216.168.224.70 is the IP for siteauthor.com) and directs your Internet connection to the correct Web site.

After you register a new domain name or when you update the DNS servers on your domain name, it usually takes about 12-36 hours for the domain name servers world-wide to be updated and able to access the information. This 36-hour period is referred to as propagation.

ValleyQueens.com is back up and running, but here is some important info...

In order for the website to be viewed, it depends on when YOUR Internet Service Provider (ISP) refreshes... and none of us has any control over that but your ISP. So, some of you may be able to view the website immediately (as in, right now!) and some of us (like me, it appears) will have to wait until our ISP refreshes. It varies ISP to ISP, so there's no telling when your particular one will refresh. (This is different from an IP address...)

Kind of hard to explain, but that is the status!! The entire data transfer for VQ is complete and everything works great, so hopefully all of our ISPs will update soon and we can all view the pictures!!

Prelims are tonight! Best of luck to all of the contestants!

THANK YOU VQ for all of your work on making your site the BEST!

Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the board and thought I'd share this article I found in the Laredo Morning Times site. Gives a little bit on personal info on Ana Rodriguez.

Laredo's lovelies; Four of the city's finest to compete in Miss Texas USA pageant
By KIRSTEN CROW, LAREDO MORNING TIMES
06/27/2008
Email to a friendPost a CommentPrinter-friendlyIt's not your imagination or a symptom of heat sickness: A bevy of high-heeled, well-coifed beauties have been gallivanting throughout the city the last few days, belting out some karaoke, playing some serious games and rehearsing like mad.Hardly a mirage, these young women - more than 100 of them - are here with a purpose: to compete in the Miss Texas USA pageant, slated for 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the Laredo Entertainment Center.

Among those 111 winsome women, Laredo has no less than four lovelies who hope to represent you as a citizen of this community and this state: Miss Webb County Vanessa Botello, Miss Laredo Barbara Falcon, Miss Border City Stephanie Lira and Miss Port Laredo Ana Rodriguez.

It's the fifth and final year the Miss Texas USA pageant will be held in Laredo, and the four contestants representing the area have a message for anyone who fosters pride for the Gateway City: Come out and support the local talent.

Here are brief introductions of the young ladies prepared to take it – and Laredo – to the top:

Miss Webb County Vanessa Botello
Age: 21 Education: Nixon High School graduate; currently a fourth-year mathematics student at Texas A&M International University Height: 5 feet, 2 inches
Although this is Botello's first shot at pageantry, as a former Golden Spur and Bucks dancer, she's accustomed to - and downright loves - the limelight.

Encouraged by her longtime friend, Ana Rodriguez, second-runner-up for Miss Texas USA 2008, Botello decided to enter the Miss Webb County contest in March, and now finds herself preparing for her visage to be broadcast to an estimated 9 million homes throughout Texas.

"I'm enjoying the moment," she said. "It's a chance to be Miss Texas - it's an opportunity to help out the community and give back to the community… . And be a role model for younger girls."

The daughter of Juan and Ana Maria Botello, the Nixon High School choreographer is currently employed at MAC Cosmetics.

Miss Laredo Barbara Falcon
Age: 18 Education: United High and Engineering and Technology Magnet School graduate; plans to attend The University of the Incarnate Word as a first-year sophomore in the fall, pursuing a degree in fashion design with a minor in management Height: 5 feet, 8 inches
Falcon, the daughter of Edna Prieto and Arturo Falcon, is an avid exerciser, both of body and mind, running two to four miles per day and studying current events to keep in top form.

"I love feeding my mind," she said.

At 18, Falcon is a young veteran of the pageant business. She began competing in 2005, winning the title of Miss Laredo Teen. For three years, she was a finalist in the Miss Texas Teen USA contest. Now competing for the title of Miss Texas USA, she's maintaining the focus she learned in her younger years.

"The big challenge is to stay positive and be optimistic about yourself … not comparing yourself," she said, noting that a previous Miss Texas USA, Nicole O'Brian Ballard, was far shorter than the average model. "This is actually a little hobby. It takes me out of my world."

As an experienced ballerina of 10 years, Falcon said she has always been enamored with the stage.

"I love the stage lights," she said. "And looking pretty every now and then helps."

Miss Border City Stephanie Lira
Age: 18 Education: Cigarroa High School graduate; plans to pursue a degree in business with a minor in communication at Laredo Community College in the fall before transferring to either TAMIU or the University of Texas at San Antonio Height: 5 feet, 1 inch
For Lira, just getting the chance to compete is enough to light up her eyes.

"It makes me feel like a winner," said the former Miss Webb County Teen for 2006 and 2007.

The future businesswoman has twice competed at the state level, among a selection of other pageants in her pursuit of the crown.

The biggest challenge, she said, is learning the often-complex routines and transitions for the choreographed dances, as well as finding the camera angles.

"And keeping myself physically prepared and mentally prepared," Lira added.

A cashier employed by her sponsor, Popeye's, Lira named one of her favorite activities as working, in addition to spending time with her 5-year-old niece, Akasha.

"She's my motivation," Lira said. "I'm here because of her. I want to be a role model for her."

Miss Port Laredo Ana Rodriguez
Age: 22 Education: United High School graduate; currently attending Concordia University in Austin and pursuing a degree in communication with an emphasis on public relations Height: 5 feet, 8 inches
Rodriguez is strutting into this competition with a real edge: Last year, the athletic-minded student was the second-runner-up in the Miss Texas USA pageant.

It wasn't her first competition. Rodriguez was also crowned Miss Laredo in 2006.

As Miss Port Laredo, a new title, Rodriguez rallied the support of area businesses to promote Laredo's image as a "trade and logistics capital."

When she's not pursuing her goal of one day becoming a teacher, you'll find her on the volleyball court, training and working out.

About the challenges involved in pageant life, Rodriguez shrugged it off.

"Right now, I'm trying not to focus on what frightens me," she said. "I'm an athlete, so I know it's not just about physical strength … I'll continue to be headstrong."

The daughter of Ivan Rodriguez and the late Rosanna Garza, Rodriguez said her mother's death due to ovarian cancer three years ago has inspired her to act as an awareness advocate - and that being Miss Texas USA would give her an excellent opportunity to do just that.

"My mom's a fire burning inside of me," she said. "When I'm tired, that's what (kicks) in."
