Subject: My daughter has done both systems C/I

In reply to: . 's message, "Congratulations Maine girls at NES Nationals" on 19:29:18 11/05/07 Mon

Hello, my daughter Natalie has done both of these systems. NES (Naturally Simple & Elegant) We both really enjoyed the prelim here in Maine in June, and had a great time in CT at Nationals. Natalie does not have the experience that some of the girls do, so I was unsure about nationals. I am glad we went, she had a blast and already asked to go again. Miss Tammy and her staff go above and beyond to make sure every one has a great time and all contestants go away feeling like royality. Natalie is not in the picture above, she had to use the "potty" (she is 4) and missed the group photo :( But when I get crowning photos back I am going to have a banner made and will post it.
Natalie did Northeast Star this past summer. There was a few things that happened that was not the directors/staff fault, one being the weather, the pageant was held at a school. It was one of the hottest days we had. Another issue was with the judges. I am not sure what happened, but at least one, maybe 2 did not show, so replacements were made. I did not like the fact that scores were kept private. Contestants were not even allowed to see them after awards, so any comments the judges made were never seen by contestants. I know different day, different winners etc. but there were some very strange winners both in the beauty part, as well as talent. I guess the last thing I fine strange is that they added a new rule, that NO girl/lady who is currently holding any kind of title on the day of their pagenat can compete. My daughter only does a handful of pageants a year, and we were looking forward to this one, BUT, since she holds a NES National Title for a pageant that did not even take place here in Maine, she can not be a contestant this year at Northeast Star. I will say the director was very nice and helped a lot with all my questions. There were 2 parades they invited Natalie to be a part of too.
For what its worth, we have enjoyed both systems, but since Northeast Star has added a silly rule (at least to me) we will not be attending that pageant, but look forward to attending a NES prelim in 2008! If anyone has questions email me! ~Sasha

I have never heard of a pageant telling girls that they cannot hold another title in order to enter. This is VERY discriminating. My brother in law is a lawyer and I will run this by him. I have heard of girls who enter much larger pageants and are unable to enter other pageants during their reign because of the commitments involved with their title as well as the representation necessary of their title. This seems strange to me and very unfair.

and cannot be vying for another title from the time you fill out

your application until after the pageant is over (or after your year is over if you win the title). But this is for pageants such as Maine Blueberry Queen where there is a big commitment and a lot of promotional events to attend. For a little pageant like NES, it doesn't make sense. Who cares if Little Miss NES Talent can't be in the hometown fair parade because she's competing somewhere else? Only the directors who want to promote their dance school!

That way, you can make appearance as queen for that system.

Does that mean you can compete in other pageants AFTER this, even if you win?
