In reply to: I know the older division is tomorrow. 's message, "Can anyone give an update of the Egg Festival Pageant held this week?" on 06:02:19 07/25/07 Wed

There were 12 contestants in the Petite Little Miss and I think there were 7 or 8 in the Little Miss catagory. Natalie had a lot of fun, she was in the Petite Little Miss. I was back stage a lot getting her ready, so I am not sure all of the results in the Little Miss group, but I do know the pageant winner for that group was Julia DiFrederico. Here is what I know for the Petite Group:

Overall Pageant
1st Place- Mahala Smith
2nd Place-Natalie Claverie
3rd Place-Not Sure

Talent:
Winner- Grace Bennett

Model:
1st Place-Mahala Smith
2nd Place: Kylie Woodman
3rd Place: Natalie Claverie

Photogenic:
1st Place: McKenna Warren
2nd Place: Natalie Claverie
3rd Place: Mahala Smith

I attended the pageant on Thursday evening and I must say it was a strange experience. The venue was beautiful (at the Millennium in Palmyra) however the pageant itself seemed slightly unorganized. I was also very confused with the judging criteria for each category as the girls who seemed to be the strongest in the pageant didn't place. In the optionals, again the winners seemed to be randomly picked. Two girls who stood out in this pageant (sorry I don't have names as I forgot the pageant booklet) where a tall dark haired girl who sang opera (beautifully poised and well spoken and great stage presence) and a gorgeous blonde who sang Unchained Melody (again very well poised and with great stage presence). Many in the audience were left wondering why these two girls did not even place as they clearly the best onstage presence. I understand we do not know what happens in the interview however, unless these two girls totally bombed the interview process and if it was worth 75% of the overall score (which it wasn't 20-30% I think) it does not make sense. I do congratulate the girls who placed and do not mean to take anything away from their win because it does take a lot of courage to do this kind of thing and my hat goes off to them.
