Subject: I am still not impressed with the north east star pageant.

I will not beat a dead horse because I am sure everyone has heard the views on the north east star pageant. Yes, the directors were very nice, but the judging was not fair. They talk on their website about "judges criteria" which does not even make sense (the criteria to be a judge?), mention things about specific counties in Maine and then add "and all counties in Maine" (again, does not make sense), state that contestants in talent "compete against themselves" (how does that work?) and have spelling mistakes like "I'am" throughout. And now on their guestbook there is a post from "Another pageant Mom" who spells I am the same incorrect way (I'am). It is clear that the directors of this pageant make up their own posts and it is so silly to me. It is a shame that a potentially "good" pageant could be so bad. They had good intentions I am sure but unfortunately they still need a lot of work.

It's not like this is a pageant that goes to nationals or something.

A contestant may not be a title holder of another pageant, she must have passed her title up before the pageant date of the NorthEast Star Pageant.

They changed it after people questioned their Miss Maine affiliation.

The northeaststarpageant pageant guestbook said:

It has come to our attention as why we do not give out scores. We follow the judging criteria of the Miss Maine America system, that was set up for us as a non-profit organization. All scores are to be kept confidential. So we follow that rule.

Their website is http://www.freewebs.com/northeaststarpageant

They removed this post after people questioned if they were affiliated with Miss Maine. (They obviously aren't.)

This is what they say on there website now, after deleting the post about being affiliated with Miss Maine (they are not affiliated in any way):

Miss Maine America is a non-profit organization, which We should have said , so we are following SOME of the guidelines. We can not speak for other pageants as we do not know their guidelines. Being involved with Miss International which was a prelim at one time to Miss Maine, (we still follow those guidelines that was set up as a prelim in the past at Miss International )so we decided to use SOME of the same things with the Northeast Star pageant. Northeast Star is non-profit because all funds received from entry fees and door admissions go back for school rental fees, tiaras, trophies, sashes, cash awards and a donation to the Make-A-Wish foundation. (IF!) any funds are left over they would go back for next year for tiaras prizes etc.

Apparently, they are not done saying they are part of Miss Maine.

The following was added to the NE Star guestbook today:

Susan Benedetto, director of the Miss International Scholarship pageant and consultant to Northeast Star is the Eastern Regional Director to Miss Maine America along with Jill Thornton co-director of both pageants is a mentor to Miss Maine America. If anyone is interested in any of the Miss Maine America Pageants and affiliated pageants, you may contact any of the them, also Alicia Nicholson
the Director of Northeast Star.

But on missmaine.org it says:

Become a Contestant
Interested in becoming a contestant in the Miss Maine Scholarship Pageant? To sign-up or receive more information, contact the Director of Contestant Development and Preparation or one of the Regional Directors below.

And for Eastern Maine the contact is:
Sheri Walsh
963-0979
shermike@verizon.net

The NE star people aren't on the missmaine.org website. Confusing.
[> Subject: Whats up with the rule about not holding a current title, that really stinks. Why would they do that?

Why else would they do this when the pageant doesn't go on to a state title or nationals?
