You will see the points that every country has got in Miss World and Miss Universe, the total of points of every country in both pageants, the place in the ranking in 1953 of every country and how many places in the ranking every country moved from 1953 to 1954.

Miss Canada, Joyce Landry, has an opinion all her own about Hollywood and she describes it this way: “It’s a hovel of big-time, small-time, all-time phonics”. Joyce returned to her home in Toronto after 12 weeks of Hollywood, Las Vegas and Long Beach, subsequent to her entry in the Miss Universe 1954 contest. She earned $1,050 during the 12 weeks of appearing in night clubs and making a short movie, but she has only $25 to show for her effort when she returned home. “I’m not going back to Hollywood and I’m glad I gave no one my home address,’ says Joyce.

Miss Connecticut, Andrea Todd is very happy because she was better than she expected after classifying in the top 20 of Miss U.S.A. Everyone treated each girl as she were queen and that’s what she loved most about this pageant.

Miss Connecticut’s favourite contestant to win was Miss Brazil, Marta Rocha. They were roommates, Miss Brazil didn’t speak English, but Miss Connecticut acted as her interpreter most of the time.

Miss Thailand, Amora Asavananda (1st from left) said: "They didn't like my country and neither did the color of my skin." Miss Chile, Gloria Leguisos (2nd from left) was happy for the second place obtained by the Brazilian Marta Rocha. She also said: "California wines are not good ... I'd better go back to drinking the delicious Chilean wines." Miss Israel, Aviva Pe'er (3rd from left) said: "I feel so unhappy ... I would have liked to bring the title to my country so much." Miss Hong Kong, Virginia, June Lee (1st from right) was the only one in this group who was satisfied with the results after being the second runner-up (3rd place).

Effie Androulakakis who entered the annual Miss Universe contest as Miss Greece when the real winner Greek representative Rika Dialyna was temporarily denied a U.S. entrance visa, holds the Friendship Award trophy she won last night as the most popular girl among the contestants at Long Beach. The vote was by the candidate themselves. Miss Androulakakis withdraw from the contest two days ago when the State Department permitted Rika Dialyna (the original winner) to come here from Greece for the contest. Miss Androulakakis has won second place in the Greek beauty contest. The Miss Universe organisers decided to give her the trophy even if she is not Miss Greece anymore.

This photo was published on 20th October, one day after the final night. Miss France Denise Perrier was chosen Miss World 1953. She is 5 feet, 6 inches tall; weighs 119 pounds and her measurements are 33, 22, 35. Miss Egypt Marina Papaelia who was the second runner-up, said that Miss France shouldn’t have won because she doesn’t look so good in the mornings. Miss Egypt also said that Miss U.S.A. should have been Miss World 1953.
