Miss Grand Philippines 2020 is Samantha Bernardo, an empowered woman from the Philippines’ Last Frontier, Palawan. She stands 5 feet 8 1/2 inches tall and has a body measurement of 36-23-37. She finished a degree in Hospitality Management, where she happily serves, interacts and listens to different stories from across the globe.
She was a competitive rhythmic gymnast for 9 years and represented her province in National Competitions. Aside from sports, she is a cultural performer and a former President of Sining Palawan Dance Troupe that showcases Philippine tradition through folk dances. She has also worked as a professional model and an entrepreneur who owns and runs her clothing company. Her heart to serve fuels her competitive spirit and determination to excel in her field.
Samantha is a Philippine Movement Against Malaria volunteer and Spokesperson, a movement that aims for a malaria-free Philippines by 2030. Samantha understands that this period in our history, in this time of a pandemic, the war has already shifted from armed conflict to a war against hunger and for better healthcare. Countries face economic recession as citizens lose jobs, resulting in disagreement and inequality. The pandemic also evidences the collapse of healthcare systems around the world, taking the lives of many, especially the poor and the underprivileged.
It is very timely and significant to bring this war on hunger and health to Miss Grand International, as Samantha lends her voice to amplify these social issues. As we journey together and share our resources, we can influence this war, and the Sun will rise again with hope, love, and peace to all.

Miss Sorsogon Maria Isabela Galeria announced today, Oct. 15, that she will not be continuing her journey in the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 pageant.

Note the MUP coronation night is to be held only a few days away, on Oct. 25.

In a statement, Galeria, who recently won her battle against COVID-19, shared on Instagram that she simply can’t compete at this point.

She said, “My body is not well conditioned yet.

“With a heavy heart, I believe now is not the right time to join the pageant. I still feel tired, and I don’t think my body will allow me to participate in the activities of Miss Universe Philippines.

“I hope you understand this is something beyond my control. I’ve thought hard and cried for so many nights about this. I have the willpower, but my body is not cooperating.

“I’m praying for your utmost understanding.”
