's message, "Not sure how Canadians can enter a Miss America prelim." on 15:00:30 07/11/10 Sun If the winner was Canadian, she went on to Miss NB. If the winner was American, she went on to Miss Maine. It was a LOCAL prelim, and the winner reigned over the International Festival. The pageant was sponsored by a local civic organization. Now, there are still local businesses that sponsor the contestants, but contestants can come from anywhere in Maine or New Brunswick, and Miss NB is not mentioned on their website. I can see this pageant losing more local support because of how it is run. Certainly it is not an example of how prelims SHOULD be. Making rehearsals optional for girls outside the local area, not having a winner who can attend many local events, and all-around disorganization and confusion does not make for a good pageant.
