We have to get past the "not from Mississippi" part. There are several contestants in the pageant this year who are not from Mississippi including Taylor Cos, Kristen Furr and possibly others. For the record, I believe that our current Miss America from New York is really from Michigan and last year's Miss America from New York was from Alabama. Last years first runner up to Miss Alabama who is competing again is from Virginia, and Chassidy Sumler from Mississippi is competing for Miss Alabama. Because of where they are enrolled in school, a lot of girls from out of state compete in other states.

AGREED! We encourage our girls to use their scholarship monies to enrich their lives with opportunities to learn about new and different places like study abroads but we have a fit when a girl travels from AL to MS?! Good grief!

Not going to say anything about who won, but the girl that got 1st alternate should have! Haven't seen her before in a pageant but she was amazing!
