I attended the 2014 Miss MSU Pageant on yesterday. Glad I arrived on campus in time enough to find the location. MSU is doing alot of construction. Upon entry, I could tell it would be a show-down.
1) Harmons entourage was in full-force with posters, etc. The crowd was there for her. They were visible silent with applause after other contestants which did not represent good-sportsmanship.
2) Many other preliminary competitions were represented by their director. Miss Amory was introduced.
Emcees: Chelsea Rick and Tyler Camp
Chelsea performed "Sunday Kind of Love" (Nice Job!)
Miss MSU 2013, Jasmine Murray, was visible throughout entire competition. Danced during introduction number, performed throughout the pageant, etc... (Simply Beautiful!)
Judges:
Carol Wright (Head Judge)
Dr. Jessica Sparks Lilley (Miss MSU 2003)
Bo Miller (Amory)
Aundrea Self
Arma de la Cruz
Contestants, Viewers Opinions, and Results:
1. Meredith Thomas, Piano (Good Job! Piano piece could have been a little more competitive, Good Answer to on-stage question.)
2. Breana Thames, Dancing
3. Randi-Kathryn Harmon, Singing "Hopelessly Devoted to You" (Overall Solid Contestant, Talent could be alot better, had much crowd support) 2ND RUNNER-UP
4. Raven Ponds, Dancing (Talent was very expressive dance)
Should continue competing
5. Laura Lee Lewis, Singing "Somewhere" (Overall Solid Contestant, b/c of her experience seemed confident, but not-cocky whatsoever, Talent was awesome, had crowd there, but they didn't have signs and all. Good!) MISS MSU 2014
6. Jessica Keel, Singing
7. Brigitte Martin, Monologue
8. Heather Haynes, Singing
9. Korea Lee Wicks
10. Kristen Elyse Furr, Dancing (Very Impressive Contestant considering the fact that she is a freshman, hometown is Tuscaloosa, AL; Great Talent; Good Answer to On-Stage Question; should compete again; could easily win another local preliminary) 1ST RUNNER-UP
