a snore was issued from beneath a old crinkled newspaper. the one known as hobo sam was dozing not so quietly on the subway bench. had he been awake to hear the conversation not much would be made of it...fairies...vampires...it was all the same to an old hobo with no place of his own. had he been awake to see the sights nothing out of the ordinary seemed to be in place. a fairly empty subway in a fairly empty town. yet grim managed to cake the walls and floors. residents still found time to litter. and signs were never spared a glance. on the front page of the newspaper, in fact, there was a death report of a young lad. he had ignored the warnings and failed to "mind the gap". yet another victim to the third rail. nevermind such...the middle-aged man was not awake and to him, the world remained irrelevant.
