well, before I posted my message earlier in reply to this one of yours, earlier today I had washed my cone filter--hosed it down really well with the jet setting on the sprayer end of the garden hose and I shook it out and let it dry. with a short slow drive in the mobile home park i'm in afterwards i noticed a good increase in throttle response, but had no clue at all what i was in for later on. I take off down the road out of the park, flooring it, suddenly i have a GIGANTIC MONUMENTAL increase in throttle response AND ACCELERATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was a very hilly road and had speed bumps, not to mention one lane each way and residential surrounded by trees and fences. not good for actual testing but i went down the road a bit, then turned around, went back home, and got myself ready to go to work, and made sure to grab my stopwatch. i was low on gas, so i put a few bucks in before i arrived at my new found place to test. no open spot at the light, so i took the opportunity to pull into the store parking lot and figure out 5% of 60 mph to add, realizing i was going 60 when my speedo read about 63. armed with valuable new information, i went back out to the light and lucky me i had an open spot. took off, and instead of getting a time of 16.16, it was reduced, simply by a much cleaner cone filter, to 14.23. I can't WAIT to find out what it is when my engine is back up to spec, if stock config is supposed to produce 11.6 seconds...heheheheheh. => I realize the drop in time will not be as dramatic but still...i'm VERY encouraged now. oh, and my engine has far more staying power and consistent acceleration. I believe my car easily maxes out at 95 mph right now, as I got the speedo to read 100 earlier this evening on a test. I should have been more careful and waited until i wouldnt be whizzing by any traffic, and i felt quite foolish doing so, felt like the newbie driver I used to be, so that's a lesson learned, but at least I know now. but it's an improvement on before, where my car could do that 95 or so but only with enough momentum. not enough power before to always pull up to that speed. momentum still plays a role but it is no longer king...
