Kalya turned to Wessae and Shrineth, Layath turning her golden-gleaming head towards the other new goldrider. "So, her name's Shrineth? This is Layath."

As she said her dragon's name, a look of tenderness and complete love filled Kalya's face. "Layath's wonderful..." she murmured. "So much more than I could've imagined."

"I think my egg will be a blue. Lay chose the name. She wants me to call him Caeruleus." Kalya leaned over to Layath and scratched the gold's eye ridges.
Hello, Shrineth.
Ah, so you're talking to Shrineth?
Yes. It's interesting to talk to another gold.
Kalya turned to Wessae. "Layath says it's interesting to talk to another gold. I guess at most Hatchings they don't! But then this one was unusual and special."
Special because you found me.
Kalya felt the pile of sand covering the flit egg begin to shake, and glanced at it. "I think it's hatching, Layath."
Good. You like me best, don't you?
Oh, Lay, never ever doubt that! You are my counterpart, my lifemate! You and I are...inseparable, only by death...You won't die on me, will you Lay?!
No! I will be with you always.
The egg soon had a crack in it, and then split, with a resounding crack. A small, pale blue-hued snout pushed its way out, struggling to escape the confines of the egg. Soon, however, the small one was out, as Layath crooned encouragingly.

Kalya grabbed the fish she had gathered and pushed it into the blue flit's mouth. "You are Caeruleus! Caer for short." The blue chirped happily, and flew up to examine Layath up close.
He is fun. I'm glad you got him.
You have A'rak to thank for that.

Right. I wonder when more eggs will Hatch? You know, the big ones, not the flit eggs.
