((D'minic is a sort of uncle/older brother, since he's not quite mature enough to be a surrogate father, but along with being Trag's friend he also pitches in to keep Trag clean, fed, and behaving. Ulyssanth adores Trag, and talks to him fairly often. I would like to note that I had a much better post written, and then Dad came in, took over my computer, and ended up causing an error so I had to reboot. >_< My apologies if it's not quite up to snuff.))

All firelizards are drawn to births, and Raz and Vala are no exception. The gangly, oddly-proportioned blue and the large, slender green swoop down onto the mantelpiece shortly after Trag uncovers the egg, settling down to watch the Hatching. Raz chirps at Trag in acknowledgement of his close acquaintance with the boy before turning happily whirling blue-green eyes on the egg, but green Vala, as usual, doesn't spare him so much as a glance. It's enough, her posture seems to say, that this green noble has deigned to enter such a crowded place at all, and he should be honored that she takes such interest in his egg. As cracks appear, the two firelizards begin to croon in the traditional welcoming song of their kind, twitching eagerly in recognition of the moment as Impression occurs.

Searching for his firelizards, D'minic wends his way through the crowd. "Homer is with Ulyssanth," he mutters, drawing odd looks from people not used to his custom of thinking out loud as he edges between two closely-placed tables. "Sometimes I think it was the dragon that Impressed that creature, and not me. Vala is probably in the weyr sulking because I dared associate with other human beings. But Raz... by the Egg, I hope I find Raz before someone comes by screaming about him." The rambunctious, gleefully rude blue had vanished from his perch beside Homer on Ulyssanth's tail nearly half an hour ago, but the brown had only just now woken up and noticed the absence. Since destruction and chaos tend to follow in the firelizard's wake, especially when D'minic's not around to control him, D'minic feels he has a right to be concerned. "I'll get blamed for it, whatever he does," he mutters to himself, sidestepping a greenrider carrying a bowl of stew. "Excuse me, ma'am. Where is that sharding 'lizard?" There have been many times in the past when the brownrider has wanted nothing more than to wrap his hand around that too-long, stick-thin blue neck and just squeeze. Fortunately - or unfortunately, depending on the point of view - Raz is astute at sensing when he's earned his human's ire, and clever enough to stay away from D'minic until he's no longer in danger of being throttled.

The only thing D'minic can sense from the blue firelizard is overpowering joy, which makes the entire business even more worrying, as it indicates devastation and chaos in the offing. Therefore, he breathes a deep sigh of relief when his gaze alights on a familiar mis-proportioned twilight-blue figure sitting on the mantlepiece. Making his way through the crush of people to the hearth, the brownrider arrives just as Vala decides she's tolerated the presence of others long enough and vanishes between. "Little 'Lizard!" D'minic exclaims, ruffling Trag's hair affectionately with one hand while extending the other towards the mantelpiece. A stern look and firm mental command quash any thoughts the firelizard might have of fleeing, and Raz makes the rude raspberry noise that's his trademark before clambering up the outstretched arm to sit on D'minic's shoulder. His delinquent firelizard retrieved, D'minic squats beside Trag, grinning companionably at the boy. "I see you've got a new 'lizard there," he observes, casting an appreciative look at the bronze. "He ought to give Homer a run for size, when he's grown. What are you naming him?"
