Subject: Problem with STABILITY IN GOVERNMENT??
In reply to: WANTON 's message, "C W You're right....but" on 15:44:14 01/17/00 Mon

Fox,

Like these thoughts. Thanks. But I remember something that made me start questioning if PNG/melanesia really was ready for stability, and that's when we had the relatively stable CHAN GOVERNMENT.

I finally saw the value of no confidence votes and instability. Having the same horses in the stable for a guaranteed, long length of time, allowed all of them to shit again and again, dirtying the whole barn. They could institutionalize pathways to wealth, so that those connections would survive past their tenure in government. They had enough time to milk the country dry enough that the opposition in its jealousy was ready to go even further once they got into power. Isn't that a real problem with stability?
