In old interviews, he calls his parents beatniks and his mom eccentric. She took him to all the junk stores to shop. Didn't he also mention in another interview that she hangs on to old souvenirs and things that broke?

My impression: Dorothy has style, but she is not into brand names and expensive things. She used to smoke. Of course she is very proud of Chris and quite protective. I get the sense Chris gets his cheap taste or values from her. They both don't like spending money.

She gave me some aspirins when I got sick, and once gave me a hug. So I think she is wonderful. She's quite nice with everyone, not just with me I am sure.

Dorothy is obviously intelligent who raised her family on her Ph.D scholarship. I think she inspires Chris a lot.

Chris is really a loner, and even Kenney has said this. He is conservative while his parents are liberal. He is practical, unconfrontational and appearances do not seem important to him. Some men like their women to be glamorous, but not Chris. That is probably why he was with Dorie and many others who are "plain" looking. His friend at Warner Brothers calls him sweet, but a loner as well.

So given his reputation as a loner, all this postings from folks who claim to know him may not really know him. I respect him, but don't know his true intentions other than that he wants to be a successful musician and realizes fame is fleeting. I also think who ever he ends up with is someone he is in love with or has loved for a long time. Don't think it's the usual suspects.
