[> Subject: aWhy do you think she has a good chance? I just don't see it. I see privilege, but I don't see relatability and grit. I don't see today's young woman in Betta.

[> [> Subject: NP- IMO she has a good chance bc her talent is exceptional. She seriously could win the prelim on the talent heavy night. MA weighed talent at 50% to weed out the no talents so that reduces the competition considerably. She's poised, hard working, humble, beautiful, disciplined, and seems to have a good head on her shoulders. That you bring up that (you think) she comes from privilege hints you have a problem with that. Are you stereotyping her? What experience have you had with her where you didn't see 'relatability and grit'? It takes 10 years of work to get to her playing level.

[> [> Subject: I don’t see the point of your negativity. She was the best on stage at Miss OHIO. She is a strong full package kind of candidate for Miss A. What is the point of trying so hard to find reasons to put her down.

[> [> [> Subject: Sheesh. Just bc she didn't win a talent prelim doesn't mean she was over-hyped. Many on the national board had her as winning and IN edging her out bc singers can connect with the audience. She's walking into interview with the judges knowing she is exceptionally talented, and they'll be wanting to talk with her.

[> [> Subject: Back to the styling! That walk on dress was awful on the national stage!!! She put the fur caplet on OVER her sash, didn’t even pretend like it was all attached. When she stood between Miss TX & NY it was EMBARRASSING!!! Take your hair out of the ponytail! Talent costume very similar to state, but it’s pretty and fine. However, what was that opening number velvet monstrosity that looked like it rolled out of a Dillards? What’s with the necklace? Hoping for better things today.

[> [> [> [> Subject: I really like Betta but the "grandma-type gowns" as referenced on the national board are not helping her appear to be fresh and relatable. Seeing her mom's outfit and flat shoes last night made it all make sense for us. Sadly, she is Not MissAmerica competition ready with this old wardrobe.

[> Subject: I had high hopes for Betta winning or placing in the top 3. I now don’t know if she will even make T10. Her talent was good but others were more entertaining. Her wardrobe and hair (aside from talent) is so bad. Was her mom and aunts styling her or is it VKM and that Casey lady again? Whoever it was they’re horrible. No one had an uptight hairdo like that. Her gown was the least memorable of the entire competition. She looked horribly dated. I feel sorry for her and us because she was the first real chance Ohio has had in quite a while. We have no one this coming year that will do well there. What a disappointment!

[> [> Subject: Betta has shared on social media and at her send off that Kasey is her stylist and is leading her prep. VKM helped with her resume & social impact and set up lots of interviews. Lora was in Kasey’s hands for styling too. She only ever credited VKM for mock interviews and paperwork guidance. Steven and the board make up the prep team with Kasey being in charge of it. In looking back at Betta’s social tho it looks like she secured some sponsors on her own for hair, spa, chiro and fashion. Betta has her own modest sense of style and it worked for state so maybe it will work there too. Did she get a free Henri gown? I don’t see any mention of them as a sponsor this year but she may have mentioned that at send off

[> [> [> [> Subject: Vicki K Maple calls herself "Dr." and no one who has a reputable doctoral degree does that. She just has an Education Doctorate (and ED) from a questionable university -- Ashland who gives out degrees for money without rigor. If she had a PhD or a MD, I could respect her but this woman is a joke. What is she doing with interview prep or selling a self-published book that is total crap. She is just taking (traveling and eating--and eating a lot on MOSP's dime).

[> [> [> [> [> Subject: Actually, those with reputable doctoral degrees do call themselves 'Doctor' all the time, lol. PhD's & EdUs have every right to be addressed as Doctor but typically don't use the title outside work. Generally, PhDs are Professors/theorists & EdUs practically apply established edu research. In VMK's case it's working as a trainer/ consultant (in pageantry) & at a local college in leadership. While an EdU degree at Ashland may not be the most rigorous, no college is handing out advanced degrees. I'm not championing VKM, but WhoTF are you, lol?? "I cOuLd ReSpEcT hEr If sHe HaD PhD or MD." She's got an advanced education; guess who's a joke.
