Can someone please tell me about Lora Current. Has she done other pageants?

A poster on Guru predicted her to be T3.

She's a freshman, didn't place among 8 girls at Oxford and came in 3rd at sweeps.

What would make her capable of a T3 finish that we don't know about?

Is the Ohio State Board considering adding more contestants for Miss Ohio 2021, by adding more locals or doing an earlier sweeps? Many states like Texas, Florida, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Indiana (to name a few) have a greater number of contestants than Ohio. I think Ohio needs to do this to survive! They need to attract new girls. Taking a year off and having no new contestants added could devastate the program's future. Also, not adding any new contestants will affect the charitable donations raised for Children's Miracle Network that the program partners with. It should not have any negative impact to the current contestants as they will continue to hold their local titles, have an extra year of preparation, and compete for the title of Miss Ohio. Added competition should be welcomed, as the Miss Ohio program wants the best to represent Ohio, and the winner wants to know they are the best representative to hold the title. I think it would be a win all around for the program.

Girls, don't count on Miss America, and therefore Miss Ohio, to happen next year. They started 2019 a MILLION in the red.

They certainly didn't make any money from last year's competition and the economy in the next year won't lend to sponsors.

Ask for your money ASAP.

Make sure you've done your paperwork perfectly and put it directly in SO's hand while on FB live, if you ever want to see your scholarship.

New scoring breakdown for MAO moving forward:

Note: There is no information on NATIONAL scoring or competition phases, these could be changed on a whim days before or even during Miss America week, like they were this year (only 3 judges, killing evening gown competition...)

2020 STATE Competition and Scoring Percentages are:

Preliminary Night Scoring:

Judges Interview - 35%
Onstage Interview/Social Impact Initiative - 15%
Talent - 35%
Red Carpet (Evening Wear) - 15%

Final Night Scoring:

Composite - 40%
Onstage Question - 10%
Talent - 35%
Red Carpet (Evening Wear) - 15%

LOCAL Scoring for 2020-2021 >>Not this season, but after MO this June

Judges Interview - 35%

This means all locals being held to determine who will compete at state in 2020 will continue using the scoring percentages already in place (no changes).

Any local to be held in 2020 or 2021, which sends their titleholder to Miss State in 2021, will use the new scoring percentages listed above.

Hey Ladies!

2.0 is here to stay and will be implemented in the states/ locals going forward. Are you excited to compete in the new format?

Are you eager to develop your Social Impact Statement/Ted Talk? Do you feel you have the skills for writing, editing, and delivering it? Along with the branding, partnering, forecasting, etc they expect to hear during your presentation?

How do you feel about evening gown being eliminated? It makes the program more accessible financially, since girls don't need to spend $1,000s on gowns. Do you think it’s a good trade off? What would you like to see contestants wear instead?

Given talent is what distinguishes MA from every other pageant, do you feel the MAO's goal of showcasing great talents on TV was realized by their changing talent to 50%?

How do you feel about the broadening of what defines talent? Do you think it will attract more girls who don’t have traditional talents to compete? Or discourage those that do, bc talents that they’ve worked years to develop are recognized on the same level as a science demo?

Are you pleased with the competition shifting to the new/old American Idol style contest with feedback from the judges? Do you think 3 prelim and 3 'celebrity' judges is a better way to select MA? Or a Miss Ohio? Or a local titleholder?

BTW- are you aware the finals’ night judges knew the T7 results and had scripts of what to say to each girl in each phase of competition throughout the rest of the night?

Finally, and this is for everybody, the question which will decide the MAO's fate:

Would you feel good recruiting other women into the 2.0 program?

There's no more Evening Gown competition for Miss America. For real.

This year at MA, evening gowns will be worn for opening number by all the 'candidates', by the NON-finalists during crowning, and during Preliminary OSQ. For finals, interview suits will be worn for OSQ.

A new competition will be "Social Impact Pitch" where you will be judged on how you sell your platform-- your execution plan, measures of success, who are you bringing to the table to make it successful, how it's nationally scalable, its national longevity, how you plan to use the platform of MA to continue your work after MA, and how the initiative drives the mission and vision of Miss America.

You will wear what you would wear to give a Ted Talk. It will be a 90 sec to 2 min presentation worth 15% for prelims; 20% for finals.

For crowning, finalists will wear whatever they want that represents their 'brand'.
---- What that translates to is Miss America will NOT be crowned in a gown!

I'm predicting there will be no crown next year, if not this year.

$1,700 for the cheapest room; $250 for the cheapest seats; $512 cheapest flight & 1 bag; $50/day food (cheap); + tips = $2,300 for one person to attend this FABULOUS, EXCITING show! $3,400 for two. With tickets only $250 - $450, I'm sure the whole town will show up. And don't forget, Christmas Eve is only 4 days after you get home! -- not even counting the $5,000 liquor bill to get through this debacle and mourning the MAO
