As much as locals are important for experience and community outreach, there have never been enough in much of the state. At-large will give more opportunity. Any thoughts on who will compete that way?

CMC is excited to name Sophia Fifner as its next president and CEO!

Fifner will start May 1, 2023, succeeding Jane Scott, who retires on May 31, having served in this position since September 2003.

Fifner joins CMC from NiSource, where she served as director of corporate social responsibility and executive director of the NiSource Charitable Foundation.

“The importance of inclusive civic engagement cannot be overstated—in today’s increasingly polarized world,” Fifner said. “I’m overjoyed to take the helm of this deeply respected organization, which serves as a bedrock for community conversation and a welcoming space for the mosaic voices that make central Ohio a remarkable place to live and work.”

Hello. I know this forum may not be “teen” Ohio, but it’s the closet forum I could find. My daughter applied and received an email to complete in the Miss Ohio Teen USA pageant.

My question is, do they accept most girls that apply or is there some type of screening with answers /photo she completed?

This is all completely foreign to us.

Thank you!

If so, who do you think should take over?

Since girls born in 1995 or later are now eligible, I was wondering who's aged out that's now eligible again. I wanted to put a name and face to a 28yo, and realized, there's not really any beyond Autumn.

So many girls chose to leave the program first after 2015, then again after 2021, and the Virtual girls aren't interested in returning either, that the age extension won't make much of a difference in Ohio.

Thoughts?

Many or most have competed many times and don’t win, some don’t even make T5. This isn’t even a new thing. It’s been happening for over 20 years. I know if you place well you get scholarship money, which I’m sure is part of the reason. Some girls though no matter how talented, intelligent and beautiful just seem like they don’t have whatever the judges are looking for so why don’t they either stop doing pageants or go to another system? Genuinely curious

OK, so I will reply to this. I saw this a few days ago and I was not surprised, at all. It was just, in my eyes, a matter of time before this started happening, however over the past couple of days now I've gotten a lot of messages from girls that I’ve competed with, girls that are currently competing, even young teens who are 13yo, who are now wondering, like, what do we do? I don't want to compete against a man. I'm in a dressing room, alone. I don't feel comfortable with this. Like, why is MA doing this? When did this happen and what do we do for now?
The reality is that I don't know how MA stands on this. I don't know if they're for men competing as female in the org or not. I do know that they changed their contract a few years ago. So the contract used to read that you had to be a naturally born female in order to compete, now it says that you just have to be a female.
But we have to submit our birth certificate saying that we. are. female. which makes sense, except now we can change, our Birth Certificate, to reflex whatever gender we currently are feeling.
And that is where I see MA's hands being a little bit tied because they laid out that you do have to be a female, but now how do you check that? How do you enforce that when the only way, the only kind of documentation that shows that is your Birth Certificate, cause now it can be altered.
So I feel really bad for MA right now, I feel really bad for the women competing in MA right now, I feel bad for the girls over in NH who lost scholarships from an org that says they’re the largest provider of scholarships for ‘women’ and here they just gave scholarships to this young boy.
And I understand all these messages I’m getting that’s saying. “I’m sad by this. I’m genuinely sad by this.”
So to the young women asking now, what do I do? Do I continue to compete? Is this an org that I want to be a part of? I think more so than looking at MA and being like 'are you for this or are you against it?’, because again I don't know, MA hands could be tied, but also I know they're not going to come out with a statement anytime soon. We need to be looking at the current situation of what's happening.
Of course this is a much longer conversation, there's a lot of different pieces that come into play, a lot of different reasons that this is wrong, that this is ridiculous, that I can not believe we're having this conversation, but the reality is, is now boys are allowed in your dressing room bc their bc says. And this org who says that they're so much into women empowerment just gave your scholarship money to a young boy. And is that an org that you want to be a part of? And if it's not, maybe you do walk away, or maybe you speak up and say this is ridiculous, this is wrong, this is not the org that is all about women, that you claim to be and I'm going to speak up for true women empowerment.

Miss Ohio 2023 Class Prospects:

29 girls have competed for 4 titles this 2023 local season.
Of the remaining 25 contestants:

2- 2022 local & 1 Virtual* titleholder have competed this season:
Emily Legenza
Marina DeNunzio
Crimson Christmas*

4- 2022 local titleholders have not competed this season:
Rachel Werling

Subject: I was thinking about how mean some of you are & it reminds me of something. My mom used to watch the soap operas from after lunch until she made dinner. She would talk about the characters on “her stories” as though she knew them. She’d talk badly about some, lovingly about others. She’d wish bad things on some like she hoped they’d get what they deserve or he should just leave her. It was funny to us kids that mom talked that way because they weren’t real & in hindsight she wasn’t saying these things anonymously or publicly. That’s the difference. The people you are publicly & anonymously talking about badly or lovingly are real people with feelings. Think about that!

As a Christian woman, I have grown to learn and love all people, and the rhetoric that Lora is "preaching" in a recent Instagram story isn't out of love or from the word of God; it is horrible and hateful.

As I do not agree that trans women should be allowed to compete in Miss America, it is not in the word of our Lord to use ANY platform to talk in vain about a person. Spewing hate is against the word of God and unfortunately, this former Miss Ohio is doing just that.
