Subject: There are a lot of reasons. The scholarship money is a big one. Some because of the friendships they’ve made. Some just love the performance aspect. Others because they believe that if they improve a little each time then they will win or place next time (competing against themselves.) Plus there are different judges each year so just because one panel didn’t choose them doesn’t mean the next one won’t. I personally think that the biggest mistake in thinking is that you’ll move up in ranking each year. The FRU is not guaranteed a crown the next year.
