The skills to win a pageant and the skills to lead a girl to work on the things she needs to succeed are completely different. More often than not, I've noticed formers can only coach in their own image- iow how they won rather than how to bring out a girl's own uniqueness. All their clients end up looking alike, a la Becky Minger. Amanda Beagle coaches singers. Heather Habura's been at it long enough and knows MAO. Roberta Camp Albert & VKM should never style anyone. Allison Goodwin Snyder coaches ARB, NAM, USA and does hair & makeup (but no cosmetology license). There are girls that are uncoachable- because they're immature, won't listen, know better, or won't put in the day to day work. And yes, I'm talking about Misses. Inept communicators, those lacking talent fundamentals, ones that think bombing their Insta with glam shot selfies is prepping, those only willing to do fun things like shop for gowns rather than push away the tacos & beer and hit the gym-- there's not so much a coach can do. These are the girls that want an ego boost (bc they're insecure), want to brag they have a coach (bc they're insecure), and then have them console them after they lose.
