Ah, what a shame. Crickets chirping on a warm night is so relaxing. Defines a summer night. Until they all stop suddenly, which can mean that something wicked this way comes. Coyote, maybe? BTW, crickets here don't look like the one pictured in the almanac. More like a cockroach which sends my mom up a tree when she sees one in the house. A long time ago when our cat, Matilda, was still a kitten, a cricket took up station under our gas water heater. Matilda went after it. She fit under the heater and if it had fired up while she was under it she would have been broiled like a tray of garlic bread. Fortunately, I saw her and pulled her to safety and, reluctantly, sprayed Raid to kill the cricket. Almost got my bottom broiled when the heater fired up, vaporized what remained of the Raid, and stunk up the back porch for a couple of days. Mom said that after fluorocarbons were banned as propellants in spray cans some companies switched to propane which could have ruined our whole day! Fun times!
