Subject: So many things to consider - more

1. The economy is awful. Wages have not gone up to match inflation but the cost of dance classes and competing has.
2. We don’t need more schools and teachers, we need better schools and teachers. Once you get certified, nobody checks to see are you teaching kids in a healthy way? Nobody comes to observe to make sure that you’re not emotionally abusing your students. There should be a certain level of quality and there should also be someway to resolve complaints.
3. I love glitz and glam, but don’t go posting more feis pictures or talk about how much it cost to buy a new dress. People are going to be turned off by that.
4. Destigmatize transferring. Not every school is right for every dancer. My niece does ballet tap jazz, musical theater and acro. She goes to several studios at the same time. She has switched studios when necessary. A lot of dancers feel like they’re only option is their current option and that leads to dancer burnout and quitting.
5. Did I mention the economy? Some folks haven’t recovered since Covid and there’s a lot of people struggling these days.
