Oh my God, it's so funny you mentioned that you had a crush on Mrs. G. When I was in sixth, I (and every other girl in my class) had a crush on Mr. Allen. He had only been teaching for a few years and he was Movie Star handsome. He was tall, had wavy brown hair and beautiful brown eyes and the warmest smile. He could have been a star if he wasn't a teacher. I imagined marrying him. I would sit day dreaming in class about him. Unfortunately for me, I was so busy daydreaming about him that I wasn't actually paying attention in class. What I didn't know, was he was engaged. One day I was kept after class because I was daydreaming during a science test. He kept me after and allowed me to take it over rather than failing me. I was almost finished with the test when this woman walked into the room. He gave her a hug and then introduced me to her. It was his fiancee. I was heartbroken. All my fantasies went up in smoke. He explained to her that I was taking a make up test and we would be done soon. I just sat dumbfounded. I got angry with him and I wanted to just tear up my test and walk out. I finished the test and turned it in, then left without so much as a "hi, bye, or go to hell." Over the next few days, I became increasingly more rude to him. He tried to remain patient with me, but I could see it was really bothering him and I was glad. I was totally vindictive towards him. Finally, push came to shove and he told me I needed to stay after school. I sat at my desk sulking and he asked me, what's the deal? He looked so serious, his usual smile was gone. He finally said, "Ever since that test, you have become so hateful towards me. I want to know what I did to make you so angry. I wanted to tell him everything, but I was afraid to tell him. He said, "Look Sonya, I don't want to have to punish you, if there is some other way to fix this. I asked him, "Are you gonna paddle me?" he just smiled and said, "Not if I don't have to, now please tell me what's going on?" I figured he was either going to laugh at me or get angry, but I finally blurted out, "I love you." I braced myself for his reaction, but all he did was smile at me. Then he said, "Sonya, that's really sweet, but you know, you're just now turning twelve and I'm a whole lot older and engaged a woman I love with all my heart." He talked to me for the longest time and I began to feel better towards him and a little ashamed of myself for the way I acted. I asked him, "am I going to get paddled?" He looked at me and asked, "Do you think you deserve it?" I nodded my head. So he got his paddle out of his desk and called me up. He had me bend over and put my hands on the desk, and I admit I was a little scared. Then he gave me two light pops on the butt that I barely even felt. Then he put the paddle away and said, "I think that'll do." I looked at the clock and saw I was going to be late getting home, I was getting scared I was going to be in trouble. So he offered me a ride home and said he would talk to my folks. Momma was a bit puzzled when he brought me home and figured I was in trouble. He explained that he and I had to talk about a few things after class and told her I was one of his best students. Momma had some questions for him and asked me to go to my room for a few minutes. So I told him, I'd see him in the morning. After he left, Momma came into my room and said, "We need to talk." I asked if I was in trouble and she told me no. She sat down for a Mother/Daughter talk about crushes and so forth, and she admitted to me she had a crush on one of her teachers when she was my age. I still had a crush on him, but I put it all in perspective.
