I too took it personally a few weeks ago.

I think the subject is sensitive enough that people react stronger than they normally might. Or don't realize that they are taking their individual experiences and saying that is the only reality/possibility.

The differences between city and country were so stark back in my era, was as if you had two different countries inside one state. Then add in the differences between the South and Midwest, for example, and wow.

When younger I worked with a man who grew up in working class Boston, and the stories he used to tell I can't post here for fear they will come across as fiction.

And if you are comparing yesterday to today, goodness. There were no social serves when we grew up, you were, in effect, your parents' property and as such, they could do what they wanted.

So yes, anything was possible back in 'the day'. Anything!
