**************************Three Years Later*******************************
A teardrop hit the mound of earth standing, lonely, with a cross at the head. Finch bowed his head, while his tears fell readily on the grave that had no body. The stone behind the cross said simply – Here lies Arion Kavira Rogers. Never found. R.I.P. 2987-3004 –
Zinto hugged his sobbing wife, Chilili, around the shoulders. Finch knelt down beside her grave and placed a fresh bouquet of white roses on it. “Voltu keercha nineh ret irnat lle. Baaden delanok fenwe feao mellon-nin. {We do not know what happened to you. But always remember we love you.}” Chilili broke down completely, sobbing, “Arion! Arion! Mammen vist lle? Lii lle uu ten ti hwinde? {Arion! Arion! Where are you? Can you not hear a whisper?}” Zinto reached down and embraced her in compassion. Whispering incomprehensible, comforting Elvish words in her ear. Finch drew his eyes away from his mother back to the grave. He whispered, “Come back to us, Arion! I know you are out there!”
Arion’s nimble fingers sewed the blanket together in an instant. She smiled at the man who had rescued her. “Ferriff, I’ve known you three years now, and you still haven’t told me why your great great great grandmother is still alive. Not to mention tons of greats after that!” He had been smiling back at her, but now his smile crumbled to nothing. “Follow me.” He said in a monotone voice. She looked bewildered and began to apologize, but he silenced her with one look. She followed him to a dark cavern where a young lady sat. The lady spoke. “Arion Kavira Rogers. You have come to us at last.” Arion looked shocked, but said nothing. She continued, “The Lord God Almighty sent me a vision of you.” Arion nodded slowly, she had heard of the One True God. She worshipped Him, although many of her friends did not. Ferriff whispered to her, “You wanted to know. Now my fiancé will tell you.” She nodded once more in understanding. The lady began to tell the history of the land. “This is called the Land of Ages. Every ten years, our time changes. But the trick is that it changes so drastically that…hmmm…” She searched her mind for a way to explain it. Finally, she came up with something. “Let us say that the year was 3007 Anno Domoni, like it is where you used to live. After ten years, it could change to something like 32000 A.D. Are you with me?” Arion felt her jaw slacken, but she nodded. “So, to let us be able to see many of these changes, Jesus granted us long life. The average age of our people is 3500 years. The oldest ever recorded was 4987 years old. The most common ages are the Age of the Unicorn, the Age of the Dinosaur and the Age Before the Rapture.” Arion looked puzzled, so she asked, “Rapture? I’ve never heard of that before.” The lady smiled. “The rapture is something that Christ planned for all Christians. He will call all of His followers up to Heaven…While everyone else stays down here,” She tapped the ground, “On Earth for the Tribulation. (See Rev.)” Arion nodded in realization as Ferriff smiled at the elf lady. “Idela Iarwain, lle vist kalwa! {Idela Iarwain, you are beautiful!}” He bent down and hugged her. Arion raised her eyebrows. “Idela Iarwain? Is that your name?” Idela nodded. “Idela Kavira Iarwain.” It was not until later that night until Arion realized what Idela’s middle name had been.
*******************************Seven more years**************************
Arion woke up at 1:30 a.m., sweating. She shook her head to rid herself of her nightmare. She had dreamed that her family and all who loved her…were standing over a grave with her name on it. She made up her mind then and there. She ran down the hallway, feet pattering on the cold paving stones, until she reached Ferriff’s room. “Ferriff!” She cried as she slammed open the door. The elf popped up, eyes wide as she threw herself, crying, onto his bed. He picked an arm up to make room for her, and she hugged him tightly. “Ferriff,” She said, her voice muffled in his nightshirt, “I want to go home!” He took pity on the forlorn little elf and he sat up, hugging her back. “Why, kalwa, why?” He asked as he patted her back. She answered between hiccups, “Hic! I miss my-hic-family! Hic!” He shushed her as he twittered in a high voice. A bird of many colors landed on his shoulder. It was mostly a bright blue, but it’s feather’s melted into an iridescent violet once it reached the neck. It’s wings had red tips on them, and it’s purple and red shining tail flittered from the wind of Ferriff’s open window. “You see, kalwa? You have not even begun to see the beauty of this dimension!” He said in a soothing tone. She shook her head. “Don’t care. I want to go home!” She sniffed. He shook his head at her. “Arion, I’m sorry, but once you come here, we cannot let you go. We wish to live in peace.” She rubbed her nose. “What would my leaving have to do with peace?” She asked in a whimpery voice. He patted her back again, “They would want to know where you have been all these years. I’m sorry. It’s not that I don’t trust you, it’s just that they’d force it out of you. Truly, I am sorry, kalwa miire {beautiful jewel.}”
