I don't post here often because I'm too busy with my massive load of advanced classes in school(Which I now wonder why I signed up for them lol) Some of the keys to great writing in my opinion is that your characters have to be belivable, 3-D, and have their own history (not this shouldn't be a biography thats is a book in it self, but just a little backround spread out through the book that shows why the character is as they are and where they are. Number 2 a good grey character is exccelent in any type of story. 3. Characters are the basis of your story don't neglect them. 4. Show don't tell use metaphors and similes/ the five senses to describe things in your story but don't go over board with them unless you are writting a poem. 5. Which is the most important...be creative with your plot. 6. good luck writing (NT)Wraith00:30:06 10/18/03 Sat
Whoa... Not much I can add after all that. Lessee, um, two things: 1. It's okay to write a character who's a total Mary-Sue as long as you make it clear you know the char is one and have fun doing it (eg, name her Merisu) and 2. Don't plan it all out beforehand, have a general idea but let the story flow. Oh yeah, and don't read other people's stuff while you write. (NT)Amber Merida20:51:39 10/18/03 Sat
Well I'm glad you agree with me whiteye (NT)wraith22:51:05 10/18/03 Sat
*grins widely* Somebeast thinks I can write! Wooo! Umm, thankee very much, but I don't think I can add much (always get to these late!) I tend to make up my plots as I go unless I get a really cool story idea. My Kib one for example. I still don't know how it will turn out. My major advice is get to know the dialogues. I tend to write as I talk, and just make it different accents as I go. Writing as you talk makes it more believeable. Other than that...listen to these other people! (NT)Dakkan03:04:58 10/19/03 Sun
Thanks a lot, guys! You saved my life! (NT)Jade da Yayishness12:37:27 10/19/03 Sun
