The Abbot and Jeremy talked for a little bit and Jeremy was still very confused, many creatures were staring at him wondering what kind of creature he was.
‘My name is Jeremy Scot I am a scientist and I have come from the far… far past, I never expected this, it seems like I have been sent to the middle ages but with animals!’
‘In the far past were there more creatures like yourself?’
‘yes, we were the most superior creatures, and mice didn’t talk; they were very tiny and made squeaking noises.’
‘Hmm… very interesting, but how can someone from the far past live so long and be so young?’
‘I was frozen cryogenically to see the future and I expected it to be full of technology and wonders of mankind, but it has been taken over by talking animals and no humans in sight.’
The Abbot looked at the human, knowing he was one of a kind.
‘Maybe you may find an explanation if you find other Humans’
‘But you said you have never seen or heard of a human before’ Jeremy sighed
‘But there has to be some records of humans somewhere’ the Abbot had explained.
‘That’s it!’ Jeremy knew just what to do.’
The Abbot and Jeremy walked through the abbey lawn to the main gates talking.
‘Skipper!’ the Abbot suddenly yelled to the wall.
‘Yes milord’
‘Can you get your Daughter Finelef I have a little errand for her.’
The skipper had went and got Finelef, and the abbot was having a quiet conversation with her
‘You have to escort the human back to his *lab* I don’t know what it is either, for he wants to look for something essential there and vermin have been in the area lately I’m not sure if he can protect himself if they catch him.’
‘Yes sir Abbot, I will take him there personally, but I do not know where it is’
‘He knows, just follow and protect him’
So Finelef and Jeremy were walking back to the remnants of his lab, and they were talking, and he wasn’t sure if he would be able to find it again then suddenly he tripped over a hole.
‘Ouch,’
‘Are you okay sir?’
‘Yes, I just tripped over this… LAB! Here it is!’
He descended down the ladder and finelef followed him, and finelef saw some of the shutdown computer systems and machinery around and was astonished of what this could possibly do.
Jeremy looked through old manuscripts dusty with age, so old they almost crumbled and they were notes from scientists of what happened in the future of humans.

~May 19 2400 We were studying the stars with our new gigatron telescope, which I have invented and noticed something peculiar, a giant meteor was headed towards earth, we have to warn everyone.

Everyone is shocked about the meteor, people are taking cover and it is coming faster and faster we only have one chance and that is to blow it up before it hits us.
Jeremy skipped a few days to the day of the meteor.

It is coming, animals know of this and are burying underground to protect themselves from the toxic gases that will be emitting from the meteor and the rocket failed we are doomed…

It has hit, and as I predicted, toxic gases are killing everyone on the planet, I will die within days and even the bigger animals in the zoos are dying, the birds and fish seem to be okay, and I have taken samples of the gas and if I am correct then the only survivors will be the smart animals who dug underground, mostly Moles, Rats, Hares, Mice, and water creatures such as otters are okay. But I believe after a while the gas will have a big effect on them, since the bomb shelter the humans made aren’t working, the animals who dug to safety will eventually possibly either die from the gas or the gas may have an effect which will evolve them eventually to a state of intelligents which will replace humans in our world… we the humans will be wiped out just like the dinosaurs.
But who am I to say… it was just a theory.
Jeremy was astonished, the theory was correct, what must have happened was when the meteor hit, killing all the humans it evolved the animals to a human like state over a matter of centuries.
‘It all makes sense now…’ and he showed it to Finelef, and they both went back to Redwall Abbey, knowing that the confusion is finally lifted.
But how did the scientist know actually what was going to happen?
