Ok I realize people are still getting over our none placement so I will try to bring us back. Have you all realized that you haven't analyzed the actual pageant. Fine , we didn't make it this year but there were some GLARING problems with the contest.

1. Though I did not like her gown that much Miss DR should have actually won the contest. if you look at any online publication about Miss Ven wining the contest they only show her answer to the question and not the question itself, that's because she didn't answer it. she really didn't. her answer was funny and had some wit but it really wasn't what Mr. Cavali had asked. Dr on the other had had an great answer adding a human touch with getting over her parents divorce. That ladies and gentlemen is real not rehearsed. I honestly thought Mexico too had a really good answer and delivery as well but i guess the judges really did have some prethoughts as to who they needed to win

2. colombia had a great performance and I was actually rooting for her but she to me just bombed the final question. I don't understand how she got placed so high? are they starting to count all the scores or is it the same format where they drop the scores?

3. the new Miss Universe crown is atrocious. It looked cheap and flimsy when Riyo tried to put it on her and even in the photos released today of miss ven on the beach with it, it is hardly the glamorous icon of beauty that it's predecessors were. Now I had only one problem with the former crown's design and that is I would have preferred the base to be rounded and not rising to that inverted V but it was still magnificently designed. This new Crown is not even good to crown the second runner up at Miss T an T.

4. I must admit the production on the whole was better than in previous years but Adrian is right they did go back to old Miss Universe choices. the top 10 was a joke in the sense that they got rid of all the real diversity they had in the top 15 however, those choices were not supposed to be there in the first place. Kosovo, I'll admit she is a pretty girl but she basically hid her hips the entire swimsuit round and still made it to the top ten.

5. I understand that Riyo changed the game last year with her gown choice and in my opinion some of the gown choices were a bit too hold and spin for me but I thought the gowns in general this year were a bit blah. Kudo's to Riyo for the tux but umm... yeah nothing more to say on that.

6. As for our girl I have had a chance to meet her and talk to her (this was prior to Miss Universe) but it's a contest and as much as PE&A can groom a candidate everybody els is grooming too. there really isnt a formula for beauty pageants or else on country would win it every year. Case in point you would have though PR would have made it on the soul fact that she got so much publicity with the pepper spray incident, the judges just had a different girl in in mind but I still applaud Anya she did all that she could do and she did it well.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR NEXT YEAR.
I am hating this new vote for national costume crap that they keep running with. that is a serious award so i think it needs to be judged. have a people's choice award but don't be giving away that award so easily to fanatical countries who aren't looking at the costume or the contestant.

Now as much as I appreciate Mr Mc's work the costume we send really needs to compete. this one to me didnt. i believe that if we are going to bec ompeting we need to really compete. send our delegate with the tools to win and then let the judges do what they must after that

and I know it may be a little soon but I actually think we should try and send Gabby next year. I know going against my better judgement about sending short delegates back to back but i think she has a really good shot at it but we will see.

OK I AM DONE NOW, EXCUSE THE LACK OF PUNCTUATION AND SPELLING ERRORS PLEASE.

I loved your post. No one cares about the punctuation-we all know what it is to be in a rush. I look forward to more posts from you in the future.

However, I personally think Gabby will be in a dilemma if sent to MU2009. She is too short and thick to compete with the tall svelte delegates that MU has been crowning in recent years. Anyways she will have her hands full at MW2008-Ukraine, Slovak Republic, Russia and Bahamas look fantastic.
