...she may not be the prettiest but she stands out more than the other 3 ladies in the photos. Who knows-Davia could pull top 25 spots in the SS and Top Model competitions but it will be an uphill battle to place in the MW finals. I would not describe her as a horrible rep but I know MWT&Torg. could have done alot better in its selection process

Is she haveing allergic reactions to the food or something. I just saw a pic of Davia's face and she had pimples on her forehead and right cheek. I hope she is using something to get rid of them pronto.

It's a shame China has banned facebook and the delegates don't have free internet. Anyways, I am keeping my fingers crossed that Davia's face clears up. Even if we don't place at least let's have a respectable showing at this year's pageant. The one pimple on the cheek- I don't mind but all those bumps on her forehead is just unacceptable.

I agree with you Trini 77. I think it is important to look impeccable at all times. If that is her skin type she should be using proactive throughout the pageant to control the breakouts. Maybe she is under stress. I will also like to highlight the importance of our delegates being aware of their posture and actions at all times. I saw a picture in the sports finals and I swore Davia looked 4 months pregnant. The cameras are everywhere as such she and any other delegate should be picture perfect every time. No unguarded moments allowed.

...we should not send anyone below 5'6" at all. Not only does our rep. have to shine onstage alone, she has to be able to stand out in a crowd of 100 plus. That being said, I would take her as MT&TW anyday over last year's rep. and our current rep. So I guess everything is relative, as they say.

Danielle Prime was 100% Clapper Material. I don't know how the heck she ended up there. She had no behind and her entire torso and midsection looked just like a rectangle. What the heck could she ever do at MU. LaToya at least had a mild possibility of placing (although based on the MT&T final I thought she was absoloutely not what MUorg looks for). The top 4 in terms of beauty at MT&TU2010 were Miss Arima (best body in SS by far; face not so stunning) in first place, Ms. Plymouth (most photogenic and also most distinct style), the indian lady who placed 3rd overall was also 3rd on my list. LaToya was 4th- everyone else was there to make up numbers. That being said Jenna should have been in the finals and I am sure she should have won. Any inclination that I had that LaToya was a top 15 placer was bashed when she strolled out in her SS at MT&TU2010. I don't know what Peter Elias, Mr. Lee, Calvin French or the judges saw that would ever tell them Latoya was a "big contender" for a top 3 spot. I think Jenna was just plain shafted to pave the way for La Toya because the only other thing that could be worst was the semifinal judges are freakin' blind.
Ms. Plymouth, probably should go to MW in my opinion.

I think they can make that transformation from model to beauty queen. most models are now becoming beauty queens, and vice versa. The second and fourth model is the same person her name is Kristy Agar she is very consistent in photos. I also like Renitta Achan you can google them,They are just a few that i think have potential.I echo every thing Trini 77 said about Latoya,But i also think that her team had a lot to do with her not placing, her hairstyle and evening gown did not say beauty queen, I have yet to see a decent weave on any of our rep.

I only see 3 pics-guess my internet connection is not that good. The first lady in while with the pearl necklace is just plain boring and what I can see of the body tells me all she could ever do at MU/MW is clap. I don't need to see more. She has no business of ever being a MT&TU/W.

The lady in the face pic-again not very interesting but the hair slicked back may not be her best and too much photoshop. We need some more pics that includes her body. To be honest I don't like the pic so I have nothing to say.

The lady in the pink top is very interesting- very stunning face-at least in this pic and the big hair works. I need to see more because as we all know, a stunning face does not necessarily equate to a stunning body.

The young lady in the large face pic is not ugly at all but I am totally turned off by the excessive photoshop. If she is the Kristy Agar lady then I would definitely like to see her in a MT&T finals. However, I am expecting to see Valene in the line up for MT&TU. We need to get back to the PE&A pageant period where we could both crown a very competitive lady and identify another young lady who could be developed for the next MT&T final.

Subject: Miss World 2010 could be either Miss India, China or Miss Norway. It is sad to say that we cant count Trinidad and Tobago as a front runner. It is very shameful to see what has become of the Miss World Trinidad and Tobago pageant. This franchise holder has taken Trinidad and Tobago from being one of the best countires in the last seven years or so to one of the worst in regards to having girls who are top contenders for the Miss World crown. The best from the caribbean this year based on overall preparedness and beauty are Bahamas, Martinique, St Lucia and Puerto Rico. Even though St Lucia may not have the best toned body she has the Miss World beauty.

That is all I have to say about the selection process and the entire quality of ladies he sends. Davia is clapper material-plain and simple. She is just average looking and who the heck gives a dam# about how intelligent she sounds if she does not look like a beauty queen. It's a freakin' job at the end of the day and our reps have to satisfy the criteria- looks pay the bills and secondary to this is how well the lady could speak to represent the MW brand.

If we had sent the Abrahams lady, regardless how short she is, we would have been in the top 20 of BB and in contention for the finals. I don't know what the heck the judges and franchise holder was looking at for the finals. I hope the franchise ends up back in Peter Elias' hands.

As for the MU franchise holder, I hope he learnt a good lesson from that debacle of choosing LaToya. Jenna was eliminated during the semis because someone decided they did not want to her to win MT&TU. No way on this planet you could tell me that Jenna was not top 3 at least in the semis. I don't know who the heck decided LaToya was the "best chance we had at making top 3 since Wendy." LaToya in my opinion was 4th at the local pageant finals in terms of looks and based on SS she needed a boob job. I thought she was competitive but I thought she would have problems making top 15 because she was absolutely NOT what MU looks for-why the heck are we trying to change MU is beyond me. Wendy was really a mould breaker but that was then. We don't have to always do something different. We know exactly what MU wants-give them what they want please!!!

PR is already in, but I don't expect her to win. She looks very boring. From the little I have seen my faves for the top 20 (based on merit) are USA, Norway, Botswana (my pic for the crown currently), Bahamas. I am still not sure of St. Lucia since I have no confidence in her interview skills.

I have no expectations for Davia.

[> [> Subject: To add to what you said. I actually dont think that Davia sounds very intelligent. She sounds very amaturish and she cant seem to articulate herself to good. It is like they have really forgotten that this is a beauty pageant. Beauty sells and that is what the Miss World Org. is looking for. I hope for next year we have a beautiful girl "first" who can articulate herself properly, at both pageants. Girls that these pageants are looking for.

The second lady looks interesting. I am just hoping that when the MUT&T screening takes place, the MW franchise holder decides to consolidate the selection and finals-with the local legs of MU and MW together we can at least guarantee the quality of the MW delegate will be drastically better than what we had for 2009 and 2010.

Subject: Davia is a girl that is very hard to predict how well she will do. I was never a big fan of hers from when she was crown. I thought for sure we had sent another girl who is a clapper. Seeing her candid pictures left me confused. One minute she looked not so good and sometimes she looked really improved and quite nice. I got really disappointed after seeing her pictures with her skin looking bad then I got really excited when I saw some pictures later with her skin looking much better. I think with the right make-up she can easily hide any flaws. I do think she has a nice body compared to some of the girls. She seems to be one of the most photographed girls. I went back and fort with Davia but I will settle with she do have a chance to do well in this competition. I think she has improved and do look better as the days go by. I may not be her biggest fan but I wish her the best and hope she succeeds because I have not been so confused and unsure about a girl we sent in a long time.

Trini77, I have been looking at pictures of both Davia and St Lucia in their swimsuit at the beach beauty competition and I must say that I dont think that St Lucia looks better than Davia. Davia's body is more tone. I dont know how well Davia can do but I wish her the very best.

Davia's pics are just plain confusing. She is totally inconsistent. Either way-whether she places or does not, I will not feel any level of surpise at all. For me, I think her shoulders are just too narrow and I think for MW we need to see some flesh on the bone. I agree 100% that Davia's body is way more toned than Ms. St. Lucia but I think for the MW competition, St. Lucia could do better because we all know Ms. Morley likes more plump ladies and facially, St. Lucia is more visually beautiful. Davia has her momements but I really don't see why the heck she is at MW when the Abrahams lady bit%h-slapped everyone at the local leg of the competition in both SS and gown.

Did you by chance notice that PE apparently favored the 1st runner up at the local competition (well at least in my opinion he puts his fav in the most distinct gown he could find- that was the case for LaToya also). I have to say that for the first year ever, I disagreed with Peter's favs for both MUT&T and MWT&T.

Evaluator, to be quite honest, from my experience, whatever my feeling were about the young lady for the local competiton were-they generally pan out. I have never gotten a non-placement wrong and the only ladies that I thought should have made it that did not (based on the local leg of the competition) were Jenna Marie Andre, Heidi Rostant, Anya Ayoung Chee and Alexia Charlerie. Anya failed to advance because of stage performance, Jenna got screwed by the online voting and Heidi fell flat on her face in the prelim interview. I have no idea what happened to Alexia when she went to MU-in my opinion she should have made the cut.

That being said-this was my assement from the local leg of the pageant-after the casual clothes display only 2 ladies stood out- the Abrahams lady and the really tall lady who won the award that Calvin French gave out (I think it was Miss Photogenic). When the SS segment passed by everyon flopped with the exception of the Abrahams lady (she was a solid 8.8 in my mind)and yes, for literally 2-3 seconds another young lady did catch my eye but she was forgettable-I am thinking this was Davia. When the EG segment was over, only the Abrahams lady should have been the clear choice for MWT&T in my mind...but as we know they put a bunch of mediocre, old-in-the face scrawny ladies into the top 5 and I still don't know how the heck Whitney Husbands made it there-where these judges freakin' blind? From the top 5- absolutely no one stood out in a good way at all. They all looked like carbon copies. Only when Davia was crowned and I focused on her did I think she looked a bit like Wendy but for me, if I could not notice her among the top 5, then why the heck would I ever believe she would make the top 15 at MW.

That being said, Davia could as you say could pull a surprise placement- but I have not seen anything that indicates this will be the case as yet. Bahamas and St. Lucia are kicking her butt right now. If she could at least stand out in the region then I think she will have a chance.

I am really hoping that the T&TMW organizer gets together with the MU franchise holder and they hold a joint pageant. It just seems that the most competitive ladies always screen for MU and not MW. Apparently, no one realized that PE&A had a lock on MW just before they gave up the title. If Peter had held on to the MW franchise I beleive we would have had a MW winner within the next 5-7 years.

I wrote all that before, just to say- based on Davia's MT&T finals look after she was crowned (since I did not notice her before then), I thought she had an small chance of pulling a surprise placement - so yes Evaluator, I guess, putting everything aside except the MT&TW finals, then I would say Davia is one of the the black horses (along with about 15-20 other ladies) who could possibly slip into the top 15 of the MW final.,, but I still think the Abrahams lady would have fared better than Davia at both BB and the MW finals. This is the first time from looking at a MT&T finals that I came up with that assessment so I have to say that is why, to a large extent, I am not very excited about Davia's chances but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

[> [> Subject: Have to agree with you. Whether or not Davia places does not change the fact that this franchise holder needs to change the way he selects girls. It is like if he totally forgets that Miss World is a beauty pageant. Most of the girls at the local competition were very mediocre and none really stood out to be very strong with the exception of a couple of girls who seemed to have some potential. It is almost like if this franchise holder has taken the local competiton back rather than forward. It has turned into a contest for average looking girls who dont really stand a great chance to win internationally. I hope that this franchise holder learns to pick the right girls or give up the franchise next year. I wish Peter Elias could come back.

I have to say that I still don't think Davia is consistent in photos. Considering that they chose 40 semifinalists for BB, I was not very surprised that Davia made it. I do think for the MT&TW final, to some extent, facially, Davia looked like Wendy but in no way would I ever think she could touch Wendy's beauty. I don't see her making top 5 of BB at all and to be quite frank a top 10 placement would be a big surprise. For all the other ladies that we had under the PE&A umbrella who placed in BB, it was no surprise, as they were seen as contenders for the MW final. I don't feel any excitement about Davia's chances for the final at all. I just don't see her making the finals of MW2010 on merit...but we have to remember this is MW-it happens ever so often that there is just one lady in the finals that you think "WTF" is she doing there.
If I had to compare Davia to any previous delegate, it would be to Miss Jamaica 2005 who in my opinion was just clapper material but who made it to the finals based on the assinine voing system some idiot decided to use that year.

[> [> Subject: Believe me, I do agree with you that we could of done way better than Davia and have a delegate that we know for sure was a top contender for the Miss World crown. I do miss the days of when Peter Elias had the franchise. This is the second year in a row that we sent a girl that is so uncertain about her chances. She has improved alot and I do think she looks better than when she was crown. I am not going to rule her out totally of placing, she has a chance. Brazil and Venezuela seems to have better bodies than Davia and they did not make the semi-finals of beach beauty. I want to see us sending girls again where we know that they are surely top contenders. I hope that this franchise holder learn to pick the right girls who are beautiful first because thats what Miss World is, a beauty pageant at the end of the day and not a Miss best speaker competition. I dont know why this franchise holder dont team up with Peter Elias and learn from him on how to chose girls and train them.

No way would I even compare Davia with Kenisha. To be quite honest, I really don't think it is a good thing to get a delegate who looks like a past winner/performer. Why would you want to see someon with a look that has already been done?

...after seeing Davia in her SS, I take back what I said about her being better in SS than Ms. St. Lucia. I have not been looking at MW pics much so I can't say for certain who are my favs from the region or globally but I definitely like Bahamas, and St. Lucia is growing on me. I have not made up my mind about Martinique.

... at least she is way better than last year's rep. That being said, I think Davia's body, although not the prettiest, is way better than St. Lucia's. It will be interesting to see who wins the Miss Caribbean title this year. About 7 or 8 Caribbean delegates made it to the final 40 of BB. Everyone seems to think St. Lucia is the winner of that title but I think Martinique or the Bahamas could win it. St Lucia, although cute, is not stunning in my opinion.

I have a bit out of the loop pageant-wise but I don't want to see Gabby at MU. Valene has what it takes to make an impact. Miss Arima from last year's MT&TU along with Ms. Plymouth (who I think should go to Miss World) would also ensure a minimum standard of beauty that is inernationally competitive is in the local finals. The Abraham lady from last year's MT&T world I think could still make an impact if sent to Miss World but if we ever ventured back into Miss Earth within the next 2 years, she should be sent-she would be a top 4 favorite.

That being said, all you have to do is look at the band launchings for Carnival and you could get at least 3 really strong ladies.

I really don't know what the heck is up with the MW franchise holder. First, T&T is a small country-why the heck we should have any beauty pageant final with more than 8-10 ladies is beyond comprehension. Additional, he needs to crown a winner at least 7 months before the international competition kicks off. From the first year when I saw the mediocre ladies that were chosen while the synergy supermodel winner from a couple years back failed to make the cut I was wondering what the heck was going on-then again this was the individual that said "no SS" were needed for the screening-just jeans and a T-shirt. Last time I checked, you need to see the ladies in a SS to see the skin tone, apart from the physique. MWT&T is just a mess. I tell you, Peter Elias dumping the franchise was a disaster.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that MT&TUorg. identifies a serious contender for the next 2 MU and MW competitions.

The only pic Davia looks good in is the one where she is sitting at the table. I think deep down all Trinis want to see Davia do well but I still have to say, I am not impressed. I don't expect to see Davia in the top 15 unless there is some drastic improvment. As I said before, Davia is just a bit too scrawny looking and she does not have consistently good face shots. I don't know any inconsistent MT&Ts who ever made the finals of MW or MU. I just hope the franchise holder gets his act together for 2011.

I don't know what the heck the MW franchise holder is doing. First this is the second year in a row that the batch of finalists was just plane mediocre. Last year we had no competitive lady-this year we had one-Candace Abraham. Davia was the only other delegate in my opinion who looked o.k. I don't know who picked such a big batch of ladies who were scrawny looking and old in the face. By far the best candidate was Candace Abraham in both the SS and EG segments.Davia looked slightly interesting in SS for like 2 seconds but that was it. Everyone else got lost including Davia when the EG segment came round.

Second, did anyone tell the franchise holder this was a beauty pageant and not a Miss "I could out-talk everyone else" competition. What the heck was that joke of a judging panel.

Third, I really have to question the taste level of both the judges and the franchise holder- the judges based on their top 5 selection for both Mr and Miss pageants, and the franchise holder for that selection of SS for the female delegates. Just because a designer offers to sponsor the collection does not mean you have to let them send out 90% string and 10% triangles onstage. Even MU would never gone so low. I thought the SS segment was about physique but apparently the franchise holder wanted to see how much the ladies would expose. For future reference, I suggest the franchise holder looks at what is worn at the MU finals-a bit more material and mostly one solid color that is not distracting-I should not be overburdened with concern that the lady may overexpose herself during the SS competition.

Anyways for the last local pageant cycle (MU & MW) the only competitive ladies that I saw at the finals were Ms. Abraham from MWT&T, while Miss Arima, Miss Plymouth, Latoya and the lady who placed 3rd at MUT&T rounded out a great top 5. For both pageants, I had different winners -Ms. Arima for MUT&T (even though I did not think her face was that stunning she had the most georgeous body) and Ms. Abraham for MWT&T (a bit short but 1000% better than last year's rep).

Anyways, Davia is just o.k. looking from what I have seen in most pics and in a few she stands out. The fact that I barely noticed her at the local competition onstage is not a good sign since that is where she should have shined. At present I don't see her placing in the finals (where it matters most) but maybe she will surprise us with a top 25 placing in the SS competition.

[> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: Have to say you are right. I dont think she will make the top 15 either. The franchise holder seems to be very stubborn and bent on doing things his own way especially when it comes to chosing the girls. Most of the girls at the local competition were very ordinary and should not be apart of a beauty contest. I dont know when this franchise holder will learn that Miss World is a beauty pageant and not a Miss best speaker or Miss intelligent contest. Davia looks ok in her photoshopped pictures but in real she do not look so good. If this franchise holder dont learn he needs to give up the franchise.

A special thank you to all the fans and all of you who support the Miss T&T Process. We are of course all dissappointed that La Toya failed to make the top 15 and we were extremely surprised since all indications were that she was going to do extremely well.

What is important to note is that this young woman worked extremely hard in preparing for the pageant and literally put her entire life on hold to focus on the task of representing her country. The debate on the controversial photo shoot will never find a resolution but it does not negate the fact that La Toya was an excellent representative.

The team gave their very best to her, and now must focus on reviewing what may have gone wrong. The fact that so many people expressed surprise at her exclusion in spite of the many explanations offered speaks volumes of the impact this young woman made at the pageant.

I urge all of you to continue to support the Miss T&T process, its easy to be there for the victories and the success but the true fan supports even in disspointments. Some how the team must find the motivation to give it another shot next year. I still maintain that this is one of the best teams around, but we are not going to place every year and we can't crumble and be ready to throw away the team over one dissappointment. Congrats to Jamaica and Yendi Phillips. Rest assured T&T we will work hard to give you reason to cheer in the years to come. This dissappointment has been tough but we will continue to give our very best. On that you can be assured.

[> Subject: I am a Trini based abroad. I have been following Latoya's and our other delegates' progress from abroad for the last decade or so. I got up at 1:30 am London time on Tuesday 24th to watch Latoya win the pageant. When the semifinalists' names were being called, I felt like it was a death sentence being read to me. It was excruciatingly nerve wracking for me. I really did think I would have gotten a heart attack or nervous breakdown. When Latoya's name wasn't called, everything in me sank. I was preparing for this year's pageant since Latoya won Miss T&T. Needless to say I had to leave the office early that Tuesday because I was sick, I am talking about the kind of sick you feel when you are grief stricken. That's the level of support the Miss T&T team has from me. Now is there an email address that I can write to in order to give some edifying feedback as I do not think that this is the forum to do so. Once again, I think MUO got it wrong by not selecting T&T this year.

[> Subject: Finally got the motivation to post after the shocking, surprising exclusion of La Toya from the top 15 of Miss Universe. There are many reasons offered as to why La Toya did not place and I hope the team re group and take a good look at what the Miss U. pageant of today is looking for. I do believe in this team and I know they have what it takes to produce winners. They need to get out of the days of Wendy Fitzwilliam and focus on what the modern day Miss Universe is about. Look at the entire girl and her overall presentation on stage. Alot of people thought La Toya did not have that spark and vibrance on stage that was needed to advance far in the competition. Some thought they went a little to far with her body. La Toya is a great young woman and did an amazing job representing her country. I fully support the team and I know you all will learn from your mistakes and produce great representitives and winners. When does screening start for the next Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago?.

That being said, now I have my 2 cents for the pageant company to cash-first you guys are great; you are definitely the right team to train our reps. for MU-in fact I wish Adrian was doing the interview prep. for our MW reps. also. Now about last year's local pageant-to be quite honest I was surprised when LaToya won-She had a stunning face but was 100% model in my book and maintained that "model" aura straight through the MU competition. I have no regrets about TT sending her to MU2010 but if she had placed it would have been "revolutionary" in my mind. Needless to say, she was a competitor but she was not what I would define as a beauty queen-she is just 100% model. Some models can make the transition to beauty queen very easily but in my mind she is the fist model TT ever sent to a beauty pageant.

I do have some concerns about the selection process for MT&TU though. From last year's competition, Ms. Arima by far had the best body -shoulders,cleavage,waist and hips (but the face was not that stunning) while Ms. Plymouth was by far the most photogenic (very MW material). Apart from that, in my mind, Jenna Marie Andre was supposed to be last year's rep. (and based on the top 15 at this year's MU pageant I can say she probably would have made it to top 10 at least). I just don't understand why a strong competitor like Jenna was dumped during the semis and then we had someone who had no chance of cracking the MU top 15 as the first runner up. I just want to stress to the new franchise holder- MU is first and foremost a BEAUTY PAGEANT- not a brains pageant-If you don't have the look then don't turn up to even compete.

Anyways, I am looking forward to MT&TU 2011. Hopefully it is in November. I would like to suggest though that the pageant company regularize the competition timing for MUT&T screenings so that the young ladies always know what week of every year is the MUT&T screenings.

Subject: Congrats to Latoya! You performed par excellence. To the Pageant Management Crew...please read the memo carefully about what Miss Universe is looking for. I would hate to see Trinidad fall into the same trap as India! I looked at an interview with Yendi and something very taken for granted that she said stuck with me....you have to look at the videos of the girls who win and emulate that style..AKA give the judges what they are looking for. The force is bigger than you, go with the flow. Look at how Yendi 'mash up de swimsuit competition' She brought it, her catwalk was divalicious, like it or not...that is why she got the top score...she delivered the goods...to be continued...tired

I have been reading some of the posts here and could not leave without saying a few things:

1. La Toya looked beautiful last Thursday night. I for one appreciated seeing her glide across the stage as opposed to doing the "Latina stomp".

2. After all the "horse stumping",hair flicking and veneer flashing it was refreshing to see La Toya with her "au natural" body actually looking like a queen. Yes Venezuela looked fierce she also looked in pain from all those fake bits inside her mouth, breasts and whereever else Osmel stick something.

3. La Toya reminded me of the immortal Wendy Fitzwilliam and Lara Dutta, two of the CLASSIEST Miss Universes ever. I hate the this pageant has become a runway show and rehersal for Trump Modelling Agency. Where has all the elegance and class gone??? I am tired of the lip pouting, and fake smiles these Latinabots continue to ply. And now all of a sudden NOBODY cannot go to Miss Universe without been trained in Latin America?? Everybody starting to look the same and THAT set La Toya apart.

4. To Big Apple WHO D HELL CARES about OTHER PEOPLE prediction list. Yes it is nice when ur representative is recognized by others but every year in pageants we see girls that never make a lot of lists make top 15 and sometimes even top 5. Venezuela was all but written off last year after the prelims - what d hell she wearing the critics said she look like a red Big Bird and look and behold what happened!!! These lists are just that and ppls opinions and yes its fun but at the end of the day it not the DETERMINING factor on who gets into the top 15.

5. At the end of the day La Toya has a 50/50 chance of placing in the top 15 like every other girl there. I for one whatever hppens on Monday am SO PROUD!!! La Toya made a name for herself and TnT. She might not have been everyones choice but she was FLAWLESS!!!

6. I will b waving my Trini flag here in Brooklyn for La Toya on Monday and come hell or high water I will defend her to the hilt bcuz she deserves it.

Happy pageant watching ppl ;) Support La Toya, Yendi and Braeneka these girls had Las Vegas on fire!!!!!!!

La Toya tried her best and I must say congrats to her for all the attention she was able to garner for herself and her country.

However TT needs to get its books in order, as I said 2 years ago, we're still new to this MU thing, we need to seriously consider dropping this pageant if we have this mentality of 1998, slow and regal beauty queen and loads of brain is not the answer.

La Toya's performance for the presenation show was alright, but it was not enough! I don't know if that was the strategy (slow walk, queenliness) or whether she was bothered that night, it came across like that to me...the latter.

However this is not Miss World, its not Miss Fashionable either...perhaps we need to start focussing less on all this high fashion and more on the girl in terms of her presentation on stage, e.g. modelling, projection etc. We do have a good grasp in terms of the other stuff, interviews (Or so I hope as La Toya said she had the judges in stitches), her body also seemed okay, but was it banging?

Perhaps it could have also been the photo? Who knows? Notice Miss USA who also did the topless didn't place...we still need to maintain some class, and sorry but La Toya's decision as much as it gained her much attention didn't do her much after a week.

Gov't funding is also CLEARLY not the answer, we need to ask ourselves as Trinbagonians if this beauty pageant business is important to us, and if yes really start doing a bit of outside training, e.g. through our friendly neighbours in Venezuela? If we want the title we gotta work for it!

I totally agree with you pgwixx , its seems Peter and his team is still experimenting, Miss Universe at the end of the day is not a high end ramp , i think they took La Toya to that route , she tried her best and did what her team told her to do .

You have to study a girl and see how its fit in the Miss universe specification , clearly they did the opposite .

Ok, I've been following this pageant for years and I usually do my top 15 tabulation solely based on just photos, seeing it live via video was amazing! Just saying...

I've made up a list of TOP 15 based on 2 factors, SW + EG and also included the introduction/interviews of the girls in my point system...

Notes though:
1) FILIPINOS ARE NUTS! I still don't see what's in this girl that they're raving about, its evident on the MU website that they're going crazy voting. I watched her tonight, her body is wack, her face is barely even MU material...I don't get it?

2) France who was one of my pre-favourites flopped, her face sucks on video, probably her pics were altered or she just takes good pics FULLSTOP?

3) Ecuador, I was rooting for her then she fumbled in SW.
4) Russia, again another beautiful girl, but she way TOO skinny! She didn't impress me at all for the SW, her legs had no form at all.

And of course! Here's my LA TOYA REVIEW

I found her to be alright, she wasn't amazing as I expected, her skin seemed to be a bit sunburnt but it was ok, I really had huge expectations from her with regards to her walk and overall presenation. Honestly she seemed a bit timid and there's just something about Venezuelan girls I wish Trini has...STAGE PRESENTATION!

Venezuela's body was not the greatest but she took control of that stage owned it, her smile was affectious and you could see she really was enjoying it. La Toya did well, but I'm not sure she did her best. The gown looked amazing but again I found her movements were a bit stiff...

BTW She closely resembled Faye tonight in her final pose with that smile, I was just thinking OMG FAYE!

Here's my top 15 along with possible contenders:

1.BOLIVIA
2.COLOMBIA
3.NICARAGUA (biggest shocker for the night)
4.TRINIDAD & TOBAGO
5.USA (huge sash factor, but she's cute)
6.VENEZUELA (U gotta watch this girl, 3 times a charm?)
7.PUERTO RICO (another person I'm worried about)
8.JAMAICA (beautiful but her thighs are not MU std.)
9.IRELAND (another top contender)
10.INDIA (I think INDIA finally got it correct)
11.SPAIN
12.JAPAN
13.GUATEMALA (huge surprise, very cute!)
14.GREECE
15.GHANA (by far the best African delegate)

Very close: CURACAO,BRAZIL,CANADA,MEXICO,PARAGUAY,TANZANIA
ITALY.

Mexico was a disappointment, her face on television doesn't do her pics justice.

I think La Toya's biggest competition right now are IRELAND, COLOMBIA, PUERTO RICO, VENEZUELA and probably JAMAICA (her thighs are what to me separates her from being a top 5 contender)

I'm a Trini btw so I do have a certain bias towards T&T, hope she makes the cut, hopeful and praying!

[ Post a Reply to This Message ]
[> Subject: I too thought Ireland, Colombia & Puerto Rico were fab. I thought T&T channelled Wendy Fitzwilliam. She was the only one that looked like a queen in that bunch. Venezuela was a joy to watch. I liked those five. It depends on who the judges were though. I've noticed certain trends with certain judges and I think this year's falls into a particular group. So I'm expecting a blonde to win unless USA does and Morgan gains the USA title to give Trump a perfect United Nations trio. LOL!

Agreed. La Toya has the chops and the international support to pull this off. However as beautiful Emilio's design is, it did not and is not working ......period. If(and i hope) she make the final 15(Girl because the moralist waiting to pound)that there an Ace in the sleeve for the evening gown and to there would a need to firesnap the swimsuit presentation (check Kenisha).
I hope the preliminary was just strategic and the real magic comes afire on final night.
Whilst Miss Phllipines look graceful....the sad/sap/survival story is an over-kill, makes me wonder whether the whole dethrone and re-instatement was a grand PR exercise (you never know whats up these days ).
But back to our business...........the EG has to be changed for the final night and Bobby Ackbarali and Peter better get it right........fast! No time to experiment , too much going for this delegate to messing ot up on the home stretch.

[> [> [> Subject: Yep, it's worrying but true. Miss Universe as opposed to Miss World looks for FIERCENESS and I also agree that you have to bring MORE in Prelims than on the actual night because Prelims are like the act of fertilization...dem spermies gotta swim like crazy for survival and to get in the door..many enter the race but 9 are chosen (you catch my drift). It is the main window of opportunity. Hopefully when they tabulate the one to one interview, swimsuit and long gown results, her composite score will seal the deal for her. Then she can BRING IT BIG TIME on the finals. Fingers crossed.Trying to entertain only positive thoughts and outcomes...

Her presentation skills was poor , her walk was lackluster and her hair look like she just got blown away by a strong wind , Peter , allison and Bally you guys got it wrong .

I looked at the video several times, La Toya was regal, elegant, imposing as opposed to fierce, a lot of girls did that Latin cha cha thing. She was obviously giving the judges eye contact all the time. I get the impression big apple wants La Toya to not suceed, which is fine, but the facts are this. Her body was incredible, her strut in SS was seductive but subtle remember as well that the judges also do a preview where they see the women close up in ss and we know her body on point, evening gown was a a lil cool but she looked in control and elegant. The interview we know would have gone well, so we will see on Monday night, I also note that many still have her in the top 15 just not near the top, which is fine. I am not making a prediction one way or the other but to say La Toya is out of the game is pre mature, I do think big apple obviously wants La Toya out, but preaching it here won;t make it happen. I SAY DON'T COUNT OUR GIRL OUT YET!!!

Hello wonderful "La Toyaites". Well what a first week of Miss Universe pageantry!!! The topless but not topless fiasco - where by the way La Toya looked GORGEOUS!!! Well guess who is the contestant pic u see when u go to Miss Universe site under Meet the contestants!! I guess La Toya was right "It's going to be GOOD!!"

Anywho just wanted to catch up with my peeps and remind everyone if u are posting on Missosology PLEASE don't get into it with the Filipinos, Indians and Jamaican fans. It just makes no sense!! These ppl are going to say whatever they have to say regardless of what opinion we have just let them be. Take the high road!!!

I truthfully am tired of reading about how "old and she only looks good from a distance, Jamaica and Bahamas better" blah blah!! In fact Bahamas and Trinidad are roommates and they look like they are having soooo much fun and that is what I like to see!!!

On the other hand the way I look at things I would rather have them talk bcuz it means that Mizz Woods doing some serious threat to their delegate!!!

But I will rank the girls how I see them after week one

1. Trinidad and Tobago

2. Albania

3. Puerto Rico

4. Mexico

5. Philippines

6. USA

7. Jamaica

8. Ukraine

9. Georgia

10. Spain

11. Bahamas

12. Haiti

13. Ghana

14. Ireland

15. New Zealand

Ciao for now. Remember to keep La Toya in ur prayers, she is representing us wonderfully and I wish her the best. Buena Suerte La Toya!!!

Based on my observations since arrival, I think she is solidly poised to occupy the top 5 and this sentiment seems to be echoed by many pageant fans on the different boards. Again, they recognize her well roundedness. In my opinion, she is our strongest delegate since Wendy.

In addition to LaToya, I think some of the other Caribbean delegates could do well. LaToya is ahead of them by a mile but they are still worthy of being called to the semifinals.

Ranking them:
1. T&T
2. Jamaica
3. Puerto Rico
4. Bahamas
____________________________________________________________
5. Haiti
6. Curacao
7. BVI
8. USVI
9. Dominican Republic

To be honest, my heart hasn't warmed to Puerto Rico but I have an uncanny feeling she will be a semifinalist. Jamaica is a strong contender, I have her on my list. Bahamas could do well but another hit or miss. While I don't think Puerto Rico is ever considered Caribbean, rather Latina, I don't reckon we will see more than 3 Caribbean (black that is) delegates in the semifinalists. The other black delegates that I think could make it are Norway, Honduras and Ecuador and even with them, it's not convincing. Africa hasn't produced any black stunners this year...with a push I'd consider Ghana and grasping at straws Tanzania.

LaToya looks great. She is definitely in top 5 contention. I don't see what the hoop-la was about for the official MU pics. I expect to see alot more of LaToya for the finals. Congrats to the MT&TU team on a job well done and to LaToya.

Anyways, on another note, I hope the MTNTW organizers get their act together. It seems that our rep will be doing alot of clapping for the Miss World 2010 final. I was totally disappointed with the judging panel (was this a political convention or business management workshop?), and moreso with the plethora of average women that they assembled for the finals. The top 5 was a joke. After the SS and gown competition only one woman stood out-I don't know her name but she was the 2nd delegate onstage (if I recall correctly-the short, georgeous indian looking lady)- for the local Ms. World final. For the SS competition she was the only one with shoulders, breasts, waist and hips. She was simply georgeous despite the fact that she was only about 5'6" or so. She was the only MW quality delegate that I saw out of the 15 that I would think stood any chance of making it to the MW2010 finals.

Anyways guys, that was just my 2 cents.

A major scandal at the Miss Ethiopia 2010 pageant is unfolding in Ethiopia,

Contest organizer Murad Mohammed.

Is being threatened with legal action for defamation by one the sponsors who pulled out of the event. It is understood he had promised to give the winner of Miss Ethiopia 2010 a car, under the assumption the sponsor: Lifan cars would give the car, Lifan cars have said they have no such deal in place, Murad Mohammed nevertheless when about claiming Miss Ethiopia 2010 will get a car, LIFAN MOTORS TO SUE MURAD MOHAMMED AND MISS ETHIOPIA 2010 ORGANISER.he also inexplicable said Miss Ethiopia 2010 will go to Miss Cultural Heritage World, the 1st runner up to Miss Earth and 2nd runner up to Miss Progress International, in his promotions, this created some serious explaining for him as the hierarchy seems mixed up and nor he does not own any of the franchises mentioned,

The organizers of Miss Progress International had already placed him on notice back in April regarding his false claims but he carried on deceiving the public

This year Miss Ethiopia was amazingly organized under the watch of the officials of the Ethiopian Ministry of Culture and Tourism, who have a history of messing up beauty pageants in Ethiopia, like the ill-fated millennium pageant 3 years ago which they contracted for, but then tried to back out of paying after the event after it was produced, and were subsequently taken to Court over.

This is what happens when people who have no business or experience in beauty pageants get involved just to make money, the keys to the car should have already been in his possession, and the car parked outside Hilton hotel on the night , This Murad guy is a known scammer in Ethiopia.

For the record Miss World 2010 is taking place in Sanya China, not South Africa, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miss_World_2010

Miss Cultural Heritage World taking place there is not: Miss World and it is in its second year and is not even a 5th rate pageant, it has no functioning website etc so what promotion would Lifan get .

Murad cleverly picks a pageant that sounds like Miss World but is not Miss World and tries to deceive the sponsors LOL it is not surprising he did not say his girl was going to Miss Universe 2010…….. Opps nobody from Ethiopia is there this year again!

The show was streaming online, the most boring thing i have ever watch..... I would not have choosen those judges.for us to get back in the game that franchise holder has to give it up.The screening process is a big part of the problem...maybe she can be transformed but with this team I do not know. The show was poorly put together.

Hi Other side of the Atlantic!! Here's the thing I don't like to have a top 15 until I c them all without the picture makeup and photoshop.

I do have a few favs that I will list and my comments about them and a few other delegates:

USA - Love Rima since she was crowned Miss Michigan and I watched the prelims for Miss USA and she KILLED it!!!

South Africa - very regal

Russia - classic beauty

Trinidad and Tobago - My choice for the crown. I said it when La Toya won that she would be a major contender and she is living up to that in spades.

The others:

Ireland - seems to be a huge fav all of a sudden. Quite frankly I found this years Miss Ireland to be facially prettier. I think that she is the type of girl that needs that makeup

Ghana - nice headshot but I have learnt my lesson with these Ghanian girls - THEY LOVE PHOTOSHOP!! Remember Miss Ghana 2006 she was supposed to be the second coming of Naomi Campbell and then she turn up looking oily and had acne. Jury is still out.

Denmark - great model shots. But does a good model make a great beauty queen??? She just doesn't have the soft, feminine features that I would like to see in a queen. Cover of Vogue? Yes in a heartbeat

Philippines - I do think that she is adorable but will the pressure get to her?? I can c her in the top 5.

Puerto Rico - Caribbean Barbie sure y not. Seen her look b 4 absolutely. NEXT!!

Jamaica - I like Yendi. But she lost too much weight and her face looks gaunt and her thighs are still thick! But I am sure she will do well.

Bahamas - Breaneka has fierce catwalk skills but my concern is wardrobe. Those okay for Miss Bahamas gowns don't translate on the Miss Universe stage.

Venezuela - What the hell did Osmel do to her face!!!!!! She cannot even smile anymore!! It looks painful!! She went from sweet looking to post op SCARY!! But will b up there bcuz the story behind a three peat is too juicy to pass up and everyone knows Trump is a media WHORE!!

Dominican Republic - Hmmm how should I proceed without being mean??!! She looks very masculine there I said it and I am not sorry!!

There u have my initial thoughts. More to come in the coming weeks!! Other side of the Atlantic e-mail me we need to get this board rocking and rolling again!!!

She is unmistakably the best ebony beauty. The Latinas are just not that strong this year and there is a notable absence by Africa. It's a show down between Europe and the Caribbean in my opinion! But do expect a few WTF moments when the semifinalists are called...

Only have some comments on some of the girls so far. My favorite for the crown is La Toya. As I said she is probably the best Trinidad and Tobago has sent to Miss Universe since Kenisha Thom. La Toya exudes such sophistication, elegance and her beauty is universal.

Russia is a nice looking girl but I do not think she will reach very far. She looks kind of boring.

Columbia has a very nice body and I see her making the semi-finals.

Venezuela does not have the beauty to be able to compete with the other girls. I will be surprised if she gets called.

Puerto Rico has improved alot and I think she can make the top 15.

USA is very nice and I think she is definitely going to make the top 10.

Jamaica has lost some weight but she looks old and her face looks a bit tough at times. Her thighs still looks huge and she does not seem to be very toned. It will be very hard for her to advance far in the competition.

Denmark looks great in pictures but I need to see more.

That is it for now. I will wait to see more when they arrive in Las Vegas.

Subject: Okay, so some time ago, we were discussing what evening gown LaToya should wear for the finals...well I just saw a gold number being worn by Ada Aimee La Cruz, 1st runner MU2009 and I have to say, except for the bottom of the sleeve, the design of the gown is almost identical to what I have envisioned...almost to a T...the transparent-ish metallic fabric...the one shoulder....the high slit...how her hair is being worn..the shoes. I must say I'd prefer some more sparkles and a slightly more silvery colour

Hello fellow pageanteers I am happy to be back after such a long hiatus. I had to get over us not being at Miss Universe 09 and the farce that was Miss world 09.

Anyhoo here's the thing: Point blank La Toya looks AMAZING!!!! The team behind her has definitely hit it out of the park with this one. I was looking at the pics from the screening and now and they transformed La Toya from a striking girl to an AMAZINGLY beautiful young woman.

Her body is more fit, her styling is much better and her interview on Missossology was excellent. I know that a lot of ppl did not like the "modern" bob but I think that it is a great idea. Look at it this way there are a lot more black delegates this year as some of the Central American countries hv crowned black reps. Throw into the mix Haiti, Bahamas and Jamaica you HAVE to stand out from the crowd.

La Toya is going to be like a statuesque modern day COCOA 20's pinup!!lol!! I love it bcuz all those other girls are going to have very long extentions and they are going to be not memorable and that is was you DO NOT want esp in the preliminary show!!

I saw those gown pics on La Toya's Facebook page and they looked incredible!!! Of course someone posted it on USB and there were nasty comments but for the most part the comments were very promising.

I doubt this is her competition gown as I know in the past Peter and Bobby have chosen to keep that selection a secret. I have a feeling that La Toya is going to be phenomenal in Las Vegas. I have a VERY good feeling about this!!

Hi Other side of the Atlantic, Miles and all the other faithful posters. Nice to be around family again!!

So....have you had a chance to look at the MUO and other websites for pics to choose your Top 15. This year is going to be a very very very difficult year to choose. But as usual, we have to wait until the delegates arrive in two weeks to see them in motion and in candids without photoshop...I have to say Europe and the Caribbean are bringing it this year!

My top 15 (which is in constant evolution) are:
Trinidad and Tobago
Jamaica
Curacao

Spain
Ukraine
Sweden

South Africa
Ghana

Philippines
Japan

USA
Mexico

Panama

Colombia
Venezuela

Bubbles for me are: Canada, India, Greece, Puerto Rico, Denmark.

I love Egypt but it's not likely that she will make it.

I want T&T to win....duhhh but I also love Spain and wouldn't mind Sweden or Curacao winning either....Curacao takes me back to 1997, my all time favourite Miss Universe pageant when USA won (was not my pick), Venezuela was 1st runner and T&T was 2nd runner. Curacao sent the spectular Verna Vasquez that year as did Italy with Denny Mendez...A year when many shades of brown made it.....and T&T sent Margot Bourgeois!

This picture is gorgeous. It's clean and fresh and shows how beautiful she really is.I waited for this so long

I do have a problem with the pictures people are posting on international forums. They some how find unflattering pictures of her and now her international supporters seem to be wavering. It seems like sabotage and even though I do not know her personally my heart sinks every time I read a mean comment. Please choose pictures carefully before posting them on forums.

[> [> [> Subject: Babygirl, I know exactly what you're saying. Someone is out to bash LaToya and I have a feeling it is someone from one of the other Caribbean islands, names I shall not call. But we will not stoop to their level, Jamaica and Bahamas are gorgeous, we Trinis are able to recognize beauty in all and have positive things to say....needless to say, we are hyper critical of our own stock, which is being Trini...I sense that there is a lot of support for T&T outside of the Caribbean basin and that makes others feel somewhat threatened. Afterall, T&T has a sterling record in international pageantry!

I POSTED THE PIC WITH LATOYA WEARING THE CROWN ON THE USB MESSAGE BOARD, I USUALLY POST ONLY HER BEST PHOTOS NEVER HAD A PROBLEM.... AS SOON AS HER HATERS SAW THAT FLAWLESS PIC THEY WENT CRAZY. BUT I LIKE THAT BECAUSE THEIR JAWS ARE GOING TO DROP WHEN THEY SEE HER IN VAGAS.... SO THEY CAN CONTINUE TO HATE BECAUSE UNLIKE SOME OF THOSE SO CALL FRONTRUNNERS SHE HAS BEAUTY AND BRAINS, HER INTERVIEW WAS PERFECTION.

Latoya bashing started after their girl won, and they posted pic of her on the USA forum they did not get the feed back they taught they were going to get.while To ya was getting very positive feedback, so they started feeling threatened so the cowards posted unflattering pic of her under fictitious name but i know its them the only reason i post on USA board is because they are more positive and fair, so any negativity on there its from missosology... at the end of the day they all has to impress the judges not us.

Gabby did not look like a winner but the team transformed her so maybe with the right styling they might have a stunner. I see potential, anyone of these girls is a big improvement from last year.

[> [> [> Subject: Gabby was managed by a different team. I don't think these girls' looks are congruous with what Miss World is looking for. Think Rosanna Davidson, Agbani Darego, Azra Akin, Zhang Zilin and the latest Kaiane Aldorino....they are all delicate beauties, understated ladies, which sweet pretty faces....the girls featured above are edgy with very sharp features. Maybe it's just the photos, but I deem them a mismatch. Know your market I say! Their manager needs to read the Miss World manual from cover to cover one hundred times and dissect and pick apart each Miss World video for the last 25 years until a comprehensive understanding of the Miss World prototype is acquired. There must be an intimate understanding of the look and personality Morley is looking for...failing to complete this process, especially by someone who does not have the experience under their belt, the chances of the delegate selected become compromised.

Some commentators have observed that she looks old in some photos. That is a valid point that must be considered by her make up team. And as one person on this board intimated, it is imperative that only top class photos of LaToya be published. Not that someone cannot have a bad photo, it's just that it gives antagonists less of a weapon to attack our delegate

When asked on the Miss Universe bio about What makes her unique from the other contestants? Latoya Woods, this country's representative for the 59th edition of the Miss Universe Pageant which airs on Monday, August 23 from Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, said, "I'm a recent pageant convert, as it took lots of urging for me to enter the pageant. Working towards a goal with a team and recognising that my efforts can yield an outcome of a greater good, have been an amazing awakening. My approach would be my conviction to the responsibilities and doing a good job for the organization and, of course, bringing immense pride to my country. Imagining the 'Universe' of opportunities excites me!!!"

And it is with this conviction that Woods has dedicated the last six months in preparing for the upcoming competition. Woman Express asked her what matters most of all to her and this was her response.

"I recognise the responsibility of representing one's country; it's important to respectfully honour those who have given me so much, by doing my very best. Peter Elias has generously put together my preparations which have been wide and encompassing. He has opened my eyes to better understand the Miss Universe Organisation and their needs. They're basically having a job interview to select the best-suited representative for their company and sponsors."

Elias who was the main part of the conversation gave us an individual breakdown of the team that is working with Woods. "Beauty is the foundation of this competition;and Calvin French has been an anchor in this process. Although it took years of encouragement to get Latoya to actually enter the competition. French has worked with her for sometime to develop her skills in front of the camera. The ability to use and position one's body and face effortlessly is crucial for a successful delegate. Latoya today is probably one of the most perfect ramp and editorial models as a result of his grooming and her dedication. "

Another important basic need, Elias pointed out, is make-up application as there are so many possibilities in this expression, and always being well presented is important. He said, "Yvonne Popplewell has been training her for several months. Popplewell was selected not just because of her tremendous experience and manner, but moreso for the opportunity afforded tor Latoya to converse for hours upon hours with a sophisticated, witty and charming woman."

Adrian Raymond, according to Elias, is another important aspect of Woods development. He is instrumental in helping delegates develop the ability to better understand their personas, likes and dislikes. This, Elias stressed allows them to be more in touch with their souls.

"As a result Woods is clear about who she is, where she comes from and where she's going. Her interview skills are excellent and she is able to successfully communicate with various stakeholders at many levels."

There are so many other important aspects, Elias said, for example Bally's hair care and styling sessions have allowed her to learn how to create a variety of looks. "The new 'bob' she now dons was the result of much thought by the team and Bally is also an official Miss Universe hairstylist, so its re-assuring to have a fellow 'Trini' backstage."

When it comes to her hard body, Elias said it has been transformed by trainer Stevenson Dillon at the Long Circular Gym. Gerald Alfonso has facilitated her training at the Long Circular Club and her diligence under Stevenson's skillful guidance has created a wonderfully attractive, balanced and toned body.

Voice training was credited to Sonya Moze. "Her intense training with Moze has enabled her to learn to use her voice as an instrument. It's amazing the awareness of using the tone of your voice for effect."

"Alyson Brown for stage performance is unstoppable! There are so many other experiences with so many talented people that shapes a delegate's preparedness; I can go on and on. All of the administration and travel arrangements are organised by ND Ian Lee. Her national costume is being developed by Monique Nobrega Ackin of Tribe…and her wardrobe will comprise a fantastic variety of local and regional designers," Elias revealed.

"Using pieces recently shown at Fashion Week by Guyanese native Sonia Noel, French photographed Woods for images to be used on many international websites that follow the Miss Universe Pageant and we thought these garments epitomised the ease and un-done sophistication of the Caribbean. She looks radiant in these photos and I must share what one facilitator said of Woods and it also sums up my take on her… 'she's a good person, and good is greater than great!'"

In an article in express woman's magazine it is indicated that she will be going in a modern bob. So I guess she is. I don't particularly like it either. However I trust in Peter and the team. After all Tanzania did make it with a man's cut. A lot of Ms Universe fans loves a black candidate only when she resembles a black barbie doll. It's so sad. But I really think she looks better with the hair she had the night she was crowned Ms Trinidad and Tobago. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Hi Evaluator, thanks for these two photos. Very high fashion-very oriental-esque. I think LaToya's undertones are complemented by summer and autumn colours. In that respect, I think the amethyst/ mauve frock looks a lot better on her than the gun-metal looking one. She looks much more vivacious in bright intense colours than matte shadows. With that said, the whitest of whites and deepest of the dark colours will look stunning on her. Metals will have to be very shiny to compete with that already golden complexion.

LOOKING GOOD!

I think the material, the one sleeve, the sequins, the cut of the top and the colour would all suit LaToya very well. I like the sheer effect, embellished with the crystalline sequins and the interplay of colours-black and silver. It would be a dazzling sight. I am also thinking nice high slit to emphasize those skyscraper legs and flowing/dragging in the back...I am not a dressmaker so I don't know what they will have to do to prevent it from getting caught up in the heel a la Crystal Stewart.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3_Qq03FRD8 By the way, it's just the colour and the top part I am referring to!

That is very tough to say what I would like to see La Toya's gown or her overall styling be. La Toya is so unique. That many different looks will make her look fabulous. I really liked the style of her hair for the finals of the Miss Trinidad and Tobago pageant. She has such long elegant neck. They will want to showcase that. She is very striking and looks so sophisticated. Yet, she is very modelesque. I think her overall styling needs to reflect all of those attributes.

I love her hair in a high bun and the styling of the night she won ms T and T. I am truly not a fan of the modern bob she is currently wearing, it does not highlight her great facial features.

No question about it Ms Woods will be well prepared for Miss Universe 2010 will be blazing some trails out there. For her costume an re-worked version of Penny's "Spirit of the light" from 1977. As for evening gown something between classic elegance (a la Wendy ) and a slight hint of sex appeal and to finish it off, combined with the elegance and confidence of Margot and Wendy..........La Toya will be unstoppable, but she has to want it.

Well, I am really out of touch with my T&T family. I had no idea, until now, that my cousin Faye Alibocas was Miss Trinidad and Tobago 2003! WOW! How embarassing is that? I was doing some research and came across this site.

Faye darling, if you're reading this, please forgive my ignorance. Mum told me you ran, but I didn't know you won. I'm aware it was in 2003 and we only recently reconnected, but CONGRATULATIONS cousin! Well done!!

Take care and all the best.

Much love to you and the rest of T&T!

R u guys getting that old familiar feeling again, that tingly feeling that Miss Universe is coming soon, that once again TnT has a rep that we can really get 100% behind?

This year we chose someone gorgeous, articulate, tall and has a slamming body and we really have an excellent chance of bring the crown back home.

I wish La Toya the best of luck and wished we could have sent Danielle to Miss World.

Do you honestly think you can win miss universe with someone like that, I mean no offense to the girl.. But she appears to be someone you can get on the street. She looks like a nice person, yet ordinary. Remember you are dealing with international countries in this pagent. She does not seem to standout as other past representative from Trinidad. The fake hair, and fake eyes and face paint.. its all fake and cosmetic. Honestly, you want natural fresh beauties. Send someone worthy of representing Trinidad and Tobago. I am sure the girl is smart and all that, But she has no chance against girls from Jamaica, Puerto Rico, India, China and places like that. She will just be a space filler. A waste of money and time just like the last Miss Trinidad who did not make the cut for Miss Universe.. but had other talents.(Nothing against the present Miss Trinidad and Tobago) I just think, the amount of time and effort and money that in spent on a girl should be worth it. And this girl is not a Miss Universe for sure.. Can you see her being crowned by Miss Venezuela .. who is now Miss Universe.. compare the levels of this girl and those from other places.. Venezuela will squash her and take the crown again.

Reality bites, invest the money where is needed.. IN the health care system, education, water supply, security for the country.. PNM AND UNC are brothers just making the people fight amongst themselves and robbing the people blind for years. That is why Trinidad is in the state that it is .

Wake up Trinidad, face reality.. you waste money and people's time. Stop spending money on girls who obviously has no chance of making it. And say what you want.. about me but remember when she do not make it. Everyone will laugh at you guys.. ( eg. Nicole Dyer) All plastic that one and still did not make it.. except for the obvious cheating of the national costume.

Everytime we have a Miss Trinidad and Tobago crown and especially one who can win their respective pageants. These people appear with their degrading, disrespectful comments. Everyone is entitle to their opinions. But, do not belittle a worthy contender for the Miss Universe crown. La Toya Woods is one of the best Miss Trinidad and Tobago's in many years. She is also one of the best delegates chosen so far for Miss Universe 2010.

Honestly, I do think La Toya can win Miss Universe. And if this is the type of beauty you can find on the streets of Trinidad and Tobago. Then we have alot of potential Miss Universes walking around.

She is what the international judges are looking for and she stands out just as much as other past Miss Trinidad and Tobagos and in some cases even more than others.

What pageant exactly do you look at?. Are you serious with naming countries like Jamaica and China?. That is so laughable. Those countries have nothing on Trinidad and Tobago. Especially in the Miss Universe pageant. You need to check your facts before you talk it seems.

La Toya is a great representitive who is going to do great at Miss Universe. She is worth every dime spent on her. La Toya is the type of beauty that Trinidad and Tobago needs to send to any pageant.

That is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard. I think the best representative won and regardless if she places or not, she is an excellent representative of TnT. There are so many beauties from these other countries that you mention with fake breast, teeth, eyes, etc, the same thing you mention, and they either place or win.

I personally think the reigning Miss Universe could not hold a candle to LaToya, so yes, she can compete.

By the way, Jamaica, China and India have not chosen their delegate, so you have no idea whether or not LaToya will be able to compete with them. In any case, she will, she is a competitor in her own right.

Lastly, they said the same thing about Wendy, Faye, Danielle, Maggie and Kenisha...guess what, they each proved them wrong and that beauty in any shape or form is beautiful and it must all be considered.

Go back to the dark place you are from because the light that is TnT does not need the negativity.

Subject: Great News for the Bahamas. . . Michelle Malcolm and her organization (Miss Bahamas Organization) has acquired the Miss Bahamas Universe franchise! Therefore, beginning this year, one young lady will be properly trained and will compete at both the Miss Universe pageant and the Miss World pageant(unless she wins the Miss Universe crown which is the first of her two pageants). Miss Bahamas will finally be a strong force at Miss Universe. Watch out Trinidad/Tobago, Puerto Rico, and Dominican Republic!

Nassau, Bahamas (MBO) January 12, 2010 – The Miss Bahamas Organization® (MBO) has acquired the Miss Universe franchise, making it the first organization in the history of Bahamian pageantry to hold both the Miss Universe and Miss World licenses concurrently. Under the theme Timeless Beauty, the pageant will select one winner who will compete in both the Miss Universe and Miss World pageants – joining the ranks of Ava Burke Thompson - the only Bahamian woman to do so to date.

“This is an exciting time for us,” says MBO President Michelle Malcolm who never gave up on the vision of having both international franchises under her directorship. “By acquiring this franchise, we will now be able to crown one Miss Bahamas, and in so doing hopefully rid the Bahamas of all the confusion about which is the real national pageant system in the country,” she says. “Ever since our launch back in 2005, we were hopeful that the day would come when we could be managing both Miss World and Miss Universe in the Bahamas. And now that day is finally here.”

The 2010 pageant is set for April 25 and eligible young women are encouraged to apply to enter quickly as there is only a two-and-a-half-week window to do so before the pageant’s contestants screening and training regimen begins. The age limit has been raised from 17 to 18, which is the starting age of the Miss Universe pageant. Additionally, MBO’s minimum height requirement has been adjusted from 5’ 5” to 5’ 3” to allow for wider participation. “A few of our Regional Directors have been after us for a while to relax our height limits, so that they could have an easier time of choosing a representative,” said Miss Malcolm. Interested young women can apply online at MBO’s website www.missbahamas.net. “We are looking for the complete package,” she says, “someone who can make her presence felt at both international pageants, and hopefully capture one of the two crowns for the Bahamas.”

Strategic partnerships are being formed to ensure that the new Miss Bahamas receives a prize package like none before her. “Getting the opportunity to compete in both Miss Universe and Miss World is thrilling within itself,” says Miss Malcolm, “however that’s just the beginning of the amazing prize package that awaits our new queen.”

Plans are underway to make the historic 2010 Miss Bahamas Beauty Pageant a grand affair. During the course of the events, past queens from both the Miss Bahamas and Miss Commonwealth Bahamas pageants of yesteryear will be honored. Additionally, they will be invited to play an active role in the Miss Bahamas Foundation, which will focus on raising money for charitable endeavors throughout the Bahamas.

The news of this acquisition comes on the heels of a stellar performance by Joanna Brown at the Miss World pageant this past December. Although she did not become a semifinalist, Joanna made her presence felt by placing 4th in the Beauty with a Purpose competition, and by becoming a finalist in the Talent Competition, and a semifinalist in the Sportswoman competition. “Joanna has set the bar very high for the queens who follow her,” says Miss Malcolm. “We expect no less than the very best a young lady has to offer, because that after all is what we are giving to her.”

Entrants should be beautiful in form and face, graceful, intelligent and charming, while possessing poise, a pleasing character, and high moral convictions. Candidates must be single, must not have children, nor have ever been pregnant or given birth. Minimum height requirement is 5’ 3” and maximum height requirement is 6’ 2”. Weight must be proportionate to height. Candidates should be of Bahamian ancestry, or citizens of The Bahamas. The Miss Bahamas Organization® reserves the right to refuse an application or dismiss a contestant, using the Organization’s codes and regulations as the basis for its decision. Applicant must submit a headshot and a full body shot of her own choice for review with her application. The deadline for entry is January 29, 2010.

I am mad, effing mad. I have stayed off this board for the past two months until the debacle of Miss World was over, now it is time for me to VENT!!!!!!

First who take my parents and siblings tax money to fund this "queen". My parents work too hard to see their money go to waste!!!

Second I thought this girl was supposed to be smart. Every interview that she gave she sound like a babbling baboon!!

Third the government spent so much time BSing Peter that he gave up the franchise and this amateur come in and totally ruined our very stellar track record that we had the past two years - Two Queens of the Caribbean in a row people!!!!!

Fourth Ashanna you should have had a better showing that. Even if you weren't in contention you should have at least had a better interview, gown something!!!!

Miss Universe anyone??????????????????

Thankfully we can now look on to Miss Universe 2010. I am thankful we have a team of professionals running the Miss Universe franchise. La Toya is going to be a top contender for the crown next year.

[> [> Subject: Seasons Greetings Evaluator...just learnt that Sushmita Sen has been awarded India's franchise for Miss Universe. So I think it's fair to say that we can expect India to turn the heat up next year. Also, perhaps our new Miss World franchise holder would have learnt a lesson this year. In all honesty, I don't think he has what it takes (KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE WISE) to bring home another Miss World to T&T. We see again this year that Miss World is choosing a particular kind of beauty. We need to think about choosing a girl like looking for pearls...very simple understated beauty but very hard to find.

And seasons greetings to everyone else. I do expect India to be strong next year. They have not been doing so well lately. With Sushmita taking over I think she will do a good job.

As for the Miss World franchise holder for Trinidad and Tobago. Like you said, maybe he has learned from this experience. Only time will tell. He needs to seek help from people who know what is required to succeed.

Commentary on Miss World:
I did not see Miss Gibraltar coming there. I suppose it's because we admittedly have a tendency to focus on the popular countries, aka sash factor. In the end Julia chooses who she wants. Gibraltar fit the mould: young, impressionable, and will listen to Julia. She also has an understated kind of beauty, the kind Julia likes. I too, like her a lot.

Americas
Mexico, Canada, Colombia, Panama, Brazil: Five Americas out of 16 semifinalists is phenomenal but 4 in the final 7 is even more phenomenal! I was glad Mexico got Queen of the Americas. Her final answer, while it was in Spanish, wasn't great. I loved Panama and was gladly shocked she was in the finals. She should have answered in Spanish. Canada didn't do it for me. She was mature, articulate and immensely talented, but doesn't do it for me beautywise. Colombia was a shock but she was gorgeous. She also seemed to be the type Julia likes but she lacked spark.I cannot comment on Brazil because I didn't even remember her being there.

Asia/Oceania
India,Korea,Vietnam,Kazakhstan,Japan: A great performance for Asia/ Oceania but none of the five advanced to the finals. Three Orientals, nice change. I quite liked Vietnam, I really hope she gets Continental Queen. I expected Korea to be there too based on my analysis of the fast track events' results. I never even saw Kazakhstan. No opinion on Japan, but she advanced because of the Fast Track. India also did not do it for me. I would not have missed her if she didn't make it to the semis or won Beauty with a Purpose.

Caribbean
Martinique. I thought Martinique was a risky vote, but my instincts told me she would make it. I did think she looked old. But she also seemed to have a lot of charisma. Puerto Rico, Jamaica and Barbados did not make it. What a travesty! What was predicted to be a encouraging year for the Caribbean, turned out to be the biggest WTF moments. It goes to show that the betting houses and blogsites sometimes can be dead wrong. For weeks Puerto Rico was the predicted winner and in the end it was Barbados being touted. I do admit, I thought Barbados would take it. Regarding Ashanna, I have no further comment as we all knew that she needed nothing short of a gigantic miracle. What I did notice was that there was a strong T&T flag presence. I wonder how much dey spend on dem flags? Joke!

Africa
South Africa, Sierra Leone. As usual, Africa is under represented. I expected South Africa to be there and Sierra Leone had to be there as she advanced automatically as a result of the fast track. Other than that, no other African. I thought South Africa nailed her question, at least the second half, but she is not Julia's type, too strong willed. Sierra Leone had no chance.

Europe
Gibraltar,France, Poland: Already commented on Gibraltar, France I loved since MU, was glad she advanced to final 7. I thought she could have won. Her look is softer than South Africa. Poland was not even on my list. But never discount these Central/Eastern European countries like Bulgaria, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovenia.

In the end, I like the winner and I like the runner's up. I really wished France would have gotten Europe Queen of Beauty. But what these results reinforce is that YOU HAVE TO THINK LIKE JULIA. The delegate must be beautiful in a soft understated way, articulate but not over confident. early to mid 2os, not be too opinionated, mouldable and most of all, sweet and meek! Where does Ashanna figure in these criteria?

Have a great Christmas and I look forward to the metamorphosis that is going to behold us with LaToya, La Joya! (the jewel)

Fast Track Winners:
Sierra Leone,Canada, Mexico, Japan, Gibraltar

Beauty with a Purpose finalists are: Barbados, Guatemala, India. To be honest, any of the these three can win it. My choice is Barbados, followed by India and Guatemala.

If Barbados wins that, she is in the semifinals. In any case if she doesn't win it, she will be picked by the judges. I am getting the same vibe about her as I did with Gabrielle Walcott last year regarding Beauty with a Purpose. I think Barbados can be Miss World this year.

Ten semifinalists to be chosen by the judges could be
Croatia- I just love her
Puerto Rico is gorgeous and a huge favourite
South Africa is strong too and is on home turf
France must be there
Jamaica could very well be there
Vietnam has been a solid performer
Korea has also been a strong Asian contender
Panama has also been strong
Scotland is a favourite too
Zimbabwe has been solid

Continental Queens
Americas-Mexico
Caribbean-Barbados
Asia-Vietnam
Africa-South Africa
Europe-Croatia

My choices are
1st BARBADOS
2nd CROATIA
3rd SOUTH AFRICA
4th MEXICO
5th VIETNAM

Needless to say, Croatia is my heart favourite which may not be realistic. Her place might actually be realistically filled by France.

Just saw a pic of our representative with vietnam. I must say that her make up is a bit harsh, she needs to soften her features by lightening her eybrows and not lining her lips.I'm, no hair expert but a hair bang may have suit her facial features best.
None the less it take great courage to represent your country and for that I give her kudos for. Just do your best.

Anyone knows if we are getting into the semis ever, ever, ever? Ashanna where are you girl? Don't hide from the cameras, embrace it. We need to see you.

Where are the pictures of our representative. Dont they know in order for her to be seen that they have to issue pictures with her in it. Take a clue from Ms Bahamas. There is not one image i have seen so far where she is the focus of the picture. Sigh. Did she get TIDCO financing. If so it is bewildering to me why they did not support Peter and he has the winning formula. Gosh even Barbados this year is using some input from Peter with Magdalene's 2005 replica. Very frustrating. Please someone send her a digital camera

Well Madame Butterfly has been leaving loads of comments on other delegates' photos on Global Beauties. Maybe they sent her as an observer this year so she could give first hand insight to the new franchise holder as this is his debut year aka he lacking in the experience department...you never know. Maybe they misinterpreted 'beautiful woman' for 'nice person' I mean if it were me and it were my first time as a franchise holder, first of, I'd research the industry, market, competition with a hawk's eye. Afterall, I'd want to make a GREAT first impression and not get written off from day UNO. I'd like to say I'd be looking for an outstanding beauty as that will be my first criterion. But amongst a room full of beauties, one can easily get lost. I would also remind myself that sometimes though, the-not-so-beautiful girl does win. But she must have some facial appeal in the first place. If I cannot find a beautiful-enough face, I won't be sending a delegate. Whether I lose the money allocated for not spending it, is not my concern. I am here for a Certificate of Excellence, aka to win, and not for a Certificate of Participation, aka a clapper.

For Miss World, once we've sorted out the beauty criterion, we can move down the list....Do we have enough time to awaken a social conscience in her, aka Beauty with a Purpose? And for me, the candidate must take ownership of the project and thus buy-in to the Miss World's philosophy of same. In that sense, it must be a genuine interest on the part of the delegate. I think Gabrielle accomplished this.

Miss World makes it a little easier in a sense as it offers a few other fast track events, but these are not guarantees...Swimmer girl from a few years ago looked like she was constantly drinking snail soup, coz she was Miss Lethargy. She did not look like she wanted to be there. Where did she reach...according to the P&L Statement, more was spent than earned. Bottom Line=Loss. Another liability=all inclusive, all expense paid holiday for her.

Now I look at Keneisha and that woman shone in every single category. How she did not make the finals continues to be one of those things that will befuddle me for the rest of my life. Again, it is my theory that the choice of gown is usually our downfall, the area in which we can crush the competition. It's almost as if we give up the chance by choosing a gown that will single out our girl in a good way. I admit,Caribbean designers are very very talented but they do not have a mainstrean international appeal yet. I loved Keneisha's table cloth/ doily material/ the plastic thingie they put underneath a cake gown. But it did not stand out in a good way on the final stage at Miss World. It was not spectacular. It was wrong! I also felt that her killer asset would always been her flawless ebony complexion, something that should have been captialized on to the max! The lemony dress for Miss Universe looked bland on her that night-for me the colour killed the style and that killed it for the girl. I have absolutely no remorse in stating categorically that I am sending a girl to win the crown for T&T and not to showcase Caribbean Fashion Week. Reminds me of Faye's gown for Miss Universe. Hated the gown but she wore it and worked it elegantly.

To be continued...back to work lol

Don;t blame it on the dress there are always other factors as well.

Lalla, I agree with you to a certain extent. I think there are at least two potential theories regarding how Keneisha ended up in the semis in the first place in Miss World 2004:

So the lines were open to the world to vote for the girl that they wanted to see in the semifinals, that is disregarding the four or five girls who advanced automatically through the fast track events. For Keneisha to advance to the semifinals, she had to have garnered at least the 6th highest number of votes among the remaining 10. The reason I say this is because the delegates with the 5 highest tally of votes advanced to the finals. This means that considering the semifinals, the public voted her in, meaning the voting system worked in her favour!

Theory 2: the rope that acted as her life line in the semis was responsible for her exclusion from the finals. So she got into the semifinals because the worldwide public loved her but other factors came into play. Philippines got into the semifinals because they are notorious for being pageant fanatics. If they messed up the whole Miss Photogenic thing at Miss Universe, how come they didn't secure a final spot for their girl?

The voting thing doesn't hold water for me, for a number of reasons. First and foremost, to think that Julia would leave this whole thing up to the public is ludicrous. Julia picks the winner! These pageants are contrived to the max! Keneisha got into the semis based on international votes, who per se voted for her? Trinis in Trinidad and abroad? Fellow Caribbean countries? Other non white nations? I also don't buy the crap that the votes were determined using a population ratio. Come on, don't you think that after excelling in every single fast track event, her omission from the semis would make a mockery of Miss World? Keneisha was the most consistent performer that year, end of! There is nothing anybody could say that will make me believe Keneisha got in because of votes. Puerto Rico is also notorious for hypervoting, they did not make the semifinals. What about Mexico, their mouths have been watering for the crown forever? While they advanced automatically with Miss Model, not enough votes? What about pageantcental Venezuela? What about India with the second largest population? C'mon, this voting thing had a purpose. At that time, circa 2003 and thereafter, text voting and the like were extremely popular in the UK. It was a way of making the public feel empowered- that the decision was in their hands, when in essence, it was a ploy to extort as much money as possible from the voters...and then the results don't reflect the voting pattern. I don't buy it. I can definitely see Philippines getting in because of votes, I can even see USA and Dominican Republic, China by virtue of their population. Nigeria got in because of votes...no no, let's be realistic. Who would have won Continental Queen of Africa if there was no African semifinalists. Do you also really believe for one second that Peru is a huge pageantaholic population or that the world saw her as the type of beauty queen that would make a great Miss World?

In the final analysis, Julia wanted Keneisha in the semis, and rightfully so, but that is where it ended. After considering all these things, I do stand corrected that maybe great dress or not, it may not have made much difference in Keneisha's placement at Miss World 2004. I beg to differ on Miss Universe.

Although many people may not realize it, beauty queens are representatives of a BRAND- the country is the company/ corporate brand) and the delegates we send are part of a brand line. There must be consistency, and when Elias took over, there was a consistently high calibre of girls being sent, with the exception of a few, that we all knew needed divine intervention to get passed the face. So T&T had attained a certain recognition for the quality of its brand of beauty. Not meaning to reduce our delegates to that of commodities or merchandise, the analogy is nonetheless befitting. The companies that have the best performing brands usually invest heavily in the quality of the 'offering' meaning, they invest heavily in research and development, creating the best product, the best packaging, the total picture...what it takes to stand out among the rest! And they become winners by relentlessly pursuing excellence. We still have a long way to go.

The Government needs an answer to this question: What benefit can beauty pageants bring to T&T. Well let me answer, because any person with even the minutest amount of business acumen will be able to see the link. For a country as small as T&T, that often fails to make the world map, increasing brand awareness is the first step. If people don't know T&T exist, how can they want to come for holidays re:Tourism, how can they want to do trade? how can they get a broader picture of what T&T is about other than the black lists and advisories warning people not to come.

Feel free to continue the dialogue

Anyone could of seen from the start that Ashanna Arthur was a big waste of time and money. One would think that the new franchise holder would of learned something from Peter Elias's time. The new franchise holder does not seem to understand what Miss World is looking for. Firstly, does Ashanna Arthur have any kind of charity work she has done or is doing?. What is her beauty with a purpose project?.

I would understand if Ashanna Arthur had the beauty and intelligence and not depending totally on a beauty with a purpose project. But, she does not have the beauty and any other girl at Miss World can match her on intelligence.

It is really very disappointing after having such a great run at Miss World under the leadership of Peter Elias. To have this new franchise holder take over and ruin it.

What the new franchise needs to do is totally change the way they select the girls. It all starts at the screening.

Not because a girl has a masters degree means she is a beauty queen. You need to find a girl who has the beauty and who can articulate herself. A girl can win with just being beautiful and able to carry an intelligent conversation. Than a girl who is just intelligent but dont have the beauty.

I do not see Ashanna Arthur doing good at Miss World. It will be a miracle if she enters the semi-finals. It will be interesting to see what the new franchise holder does after Miss World. Would he admit that they made a mistake?. I doubt it. But I do hope that next year we do not have a repeat of this same mistake.

I would sum this up as a learning experience for this Franchise holder. I really do not think he is totally responsible for this disaster. It started with the selection process, they are the ones that selected this girl I am sure their were much better looking girls that got cut.Although time was limited either of the other girls would've done a better job representing T&T.so lastly I blame those judges.

LaToya as a top five finalist in Miss Universe 2010 will get this question as a final question:

JUDGE: Your country has been in the news recently as one of your country mates and former Miss Universe delegates has been the protagonist in a number of home made porn clips leaked on the internet, what are your views?

LATOYA: Well Trinis, as we are called, try not assign a moral judgement to other people's acts, we just see the lighter side. First, Trinis have sex like everybody else! Then the fact that this little twin republic (and clearly I am not referring to Anya's Tobagos) could produce such a stir in the media world could only mean that we not only have the technology but the expertise to compete on a global scale with the big fishes!

We go win!

Miss Universe Contestants in Three-Way Sex Tape
Posted Nov 17th 2009 3:30PM by TMZ Staff

Carrie who?

Two former Miss Universe contestants are stealing the sex tape scandal spotlight, after a home video hit the web reportedly featuring Miss Japan 2008 and Miss Trinidad and Tobago 2008 engaged -- fully engaged -- in a hardcore three-way with some dude, reportedly a professional photographer.

Hiroko Mima (Japan) and Anya Ayoung-Chee (T&T) both competed in the 2008 Miss Universe pageant.

TMZ spoke with a rep from the Miss Universe pageant who tells us, "This was apparently eight months after the pageant and neither were the reigning titleholder.

The photographer is NOT a Miss Universe staffer so we have nothing to say or any involvement ... thank goodness."

And for the record -- no, we're not publishing it.

I dont think anyone is really interested in what is going on at Miss World this year. It does not look very promising for Ashanna Arthur based on the pictures I have seen of her at the competition. I think it was a big waste of time and money sending her to Miss World. She is just not beauty queen material. I hope that the franchise learns from this and start picking girls who are beauty queens.

LA TOYA WAS OUTSTANDING FROM THE TIME SHE SCREENED. SHE IS A GREAT REPRESENTATIVE AND TRULY HAS THE TOTAL PACKAGE. WHAT GRACE, CHARM, CONFIDENCE AND INTELLIGENCE!!! SHE CERTAILNY NAILED THE QUESTION AND KNEW EXACLTY WHAT SHE WANTED TO SAY. SHE CAN PACK HER SIUTCASES AND LEAVE TOMORROW. THE FACILITATORS WILL HAVE VERY LITTLE TO FIX. HOWEVER, WE WILL NOT TAKE IT FOR GRANTED. T&T WILL BE SMOKING HOT IN 2010. SHE CAN WIN!!!!!! I BELIEVE HER EXPERIENCE AS A MODEL HELPED HER A LOT, AS WELL AS HER STUDY OF PSYCHOLOGY. I AM HAPPY TO PREDICT AND PICK A WINNER IN THE LOCAL LEG AGAIN AS I DID WITH DNIELLE JONES, CHERYL ANKRAH, ALEXIA, HEIDI, AND MARGOT. BEST WISHES TO YOU LATOYA. YOU WILL CONTINUE TO SHINE.

Ok, after viewing the FACE pics and paying attention to the swimsuit shots, I think the most ready right now for MU are:

SARAH RADDAY, LA TOYA WOODS & DANILLE PRIME.

Unless these other girls have some extreme makeover by the time the pageant comes around, I don't think anyone else deserves the crown. TnT needs to get serious and send a WOW! girl...its about we're called again..."
....TOP 3 right there for ya!

I can't believe it! Latoya Woods is gonna be dynamite come 2010. Donald Trump better be ready for a crown take over by a Caribbean beauty. I am so contnted that I can go to bed smiling. This show and these results definitely made up for Trinidad and Tobago's absence last year. Congratulations to Latoya. I was also pleased with the 1st runner up. Peter Elias and the crew did it again. I hope the people for Miss World are taking note! What a show!!!!!!! I am contented!

Evaluator thank you for posting the pic and some more. Guys I have to reitorate I am really feeling the reps this year. This is the first group within recent memory where at least if anyone of three girls wins I could see them in the top 15 with them also going all the way.

Other side of the Atlantic I agree with you on LaToya's make-up. The pic from the screening where she is in her swimsuit, the make-up is softer and her skin abosolutely glows. Girls with a more caramel complexion don't need as much matte make-up. That is one of the best pics I have seen of LaToya.

Danielle on the other hand does need the matte because in her shots without it that is why she wasn't on my radar before this pic came out.

Eith this group at least three girls look ready face and body wise to take the stage tomorrow if need be and I haven't said that about any delegate/s since Wendy and Danielle. Kenisha and Faye whom I love immensely had body issuses that they dealt with and as a result were rewarded for it.

As far as interview that is the unknown variable right now. I want a delegate with a good interview not necessarily a doctorate candidate. For as you know when it comes to Trump beauty before brain.

I also like the fact that some of these have modelled before it makes the catwalk training that much easier when you have a girl that can walk.

I would like Peter and Company to please really WOW with the evening gown. Twirling dresses are out, let think body hugging because some of these girls have amazing bodies.

Shirlanna face is gorgeous!!!!!!

La Toya is leading the way right now. She has everything needed to win Miss Universe. She seems poised to take it all. She is stunning and sophisticated. Some of the other girls are closely following. Dont overlook Danille either. She can also take it all. She has such a unique look to her that will go well at Miss Universe. She looks so elegant. June is also closely there. If she gets her interview right she can win it all. I believe one out of these three girls will win.

Guys I just saw a picture and message thread about the final 8 delegates for Miss TnT Universe this weekend. The pic has the delegates sitting on a couch and a few standing at the back. Let me just say that they all looked fab with a few outstanding exceptions:

June Lightbourne - I do find June's face to be appealing but she just striles me as a beauty that could get lost in the competition for Miss Universe. With the stakes higher since it is a Top 9 and not Top 15 she just does not standout to me. In the pic your eyes do not go to her first and that is a problem since you have to get noticed at Miss Universe.

Danielle Prime - This just just snuck up on me. In that photo she looked amazing!!! Her face and complexion looked flawless. But with that being said there a photos where her face and smile look to me to be very awkward. Top 3

Shari Demas - Shari was my original pick to win it all but she seems to lack that extra spark infront of the camera. Her face and skin are beautiful but there is a vacancy behind the eyes for me. Top 2

La Toya Woods - Originally I had her just behind Shari but after seeing the pics from the screening and her amazing face in that group shot she is now my choice to win it all!!! La Toya's face, body and skin tone are FIERCE!!!! She embodies that quintesentially Caribbean Beauty to perfection. And those DIMPLES!! That does not hurt either. If she is crowned I see her doing very well at Miss Universe (top 5 there).

There was a huge surprise for me Shirlanna Singh. This girl while not my choice to win has one of the most beautiful faces that I have seen on a delegate in a long time. I do think with some extra training and toning she could win a regional pageant ( Miss Caribe Hibiscus, Miss Caricom etc)

I also have to say that the ladies were well received on the American Board with many posters stating that they were excited to see TnT back and that we always send exceptionally beautiful and well trained delegates!!

GOOD LUCK to all the girls this weekend!!!!

C, I cannot agree with you more. My pick is still LaToya Woods. However, I have to say I prefer her with less makeup than more. Her complexion is flawless and rich already. It should not be mattified too much, in the photo with her looking at the mirror, the make up makes her look a little harsh because it takes away the softness that makes her so stunning. She is a stunner based on her glowing skin and soft features.

Shirlanna wows me again in that photo. At the moment, she is still my 2nd choice.

Danille is moving up my Billboard charts. Unlike LaToya, make up enhances her face, smooths the contours that made her face look uneven and shiny. The matte look is very suitable for her because she looks like one of those sophisticated beauties for Ebony or Jet. I won't be surprised if she wins it.

Shari, no change in my opinion.

Sarah is not wooing me at the moment.

This year I am getting a very very positive vibe from our representatives. I can see T&T placing very high people!

C, as you said, June's look is not consistent. I want to like her, but she doesn't stand out for me.

Shari
