Not basketball related at all, but I thought this was funny. More schools should do this. I would love to be the cafeteria workers who pulled this crap and then got a day of WITH PAY.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A fifth-grader said two cafeteria workers put him in a freezer for 10 to 15 minutes as a punishment for throwing food.

The two food-service workers at Spring Elementary School were suspended with pay Thursday.

Frankie Coley, 11, said he and a friend were playing while sitting at a table in the cafeteria when a food-service worker accused him of throwing food.

The cafeteria worker grabbed him by the neck and put him in the walk-in freezer and shut the door, he said. The boy's mother said her son was in the freezer for between 10 and 15 minutes Wednesday when he was asked by a worker whether he had calmed down.

"I didn't answer her, so she kept me in there," the boy said. "I started banging on the door, asking them to let me out."

A classmate let him out while other pupils were returning to class, he said.

The school didn't release the names of the suspended workers.

"This is something we are taking very seriously," said Jane Bruss, a spokeswoman for the school district. "We are investigating what happened."

Shana Thompson, the boy's mother, said she plans to talk with police about filing criminal charges.

KICK ASS CAFETERIA WORKERS!! All they ever did to me was spit in my food, but that actually made the food better, so I didn't mind.

[> I used to have my ass paddled by the nuns at St. Catherine's. I would have loved to have spend a few minutes in a walk in freezer instead. My parents even sent a letter to the school assuring them that it was OK to whack my ass as much as they saw fit. God love em, just wait until they see the rest home I pick out. -- Sniper, 16:37:13 05/03/02 Fri

[> [> [> I went to a kinder, gentler Catholic elementary school. They were big on in-school suspension rather than paddling. ISS involved locking me in a storage closet in the princiapl's office. They made me disect a grasshopper in there once, and I got delightfully high and sick at the same time, eventually tossing up all over my cell. -- Homeskillet, 10:52:33 05/06/02 Mon

Might be a kid who would fit the Huggins profile.
