Subject: Hungry

I quite enjoyed 'Hungry' - although it didn't have enough Mulder and Scully in it, did it? Hardly *any* Scully in fact. The thing that I noticed, significantly, was that after the early scene when Mulder was talking to Scully about the proboscis effect, the story took place from Rob Roberts' point of view. We never saw M&S discuss the case again! Have there been any other eps like that, where we only get to see them when they come to the protagonist's apartment or work place? I was a bit amazed how Mulder made such rapid assumptions about the nature of the 'monster'. He seemed to know all about Roberts' hunger - but how? Just cos he eats brain doesn't mean he's hungry does it? And just cos he's hungry, doesn't mean he should go after brain. Ah well, a monster is a monster I suppose.

Mulder's voice seemed huskier than normal, like he'd got a bad throat. Quite nice huskiness, but a little different to his usual timbre... And why were the FBI assigned to this case? It wasn't a serial XF murder? At first it was just a single death - a police matter. I laughed at Rob sleeping on the couch. So Mulder's not the only one. And I also laughed when the ear dropped off unexpectedly.

After the intensity of The Biogenesis threeparter, I suppose the next one in had to be a disappointment. But I've seen worse eps than this. It was a spooky tale almost in its own right (without M & S involvement!)
