Subject: The Last scene in Brand X...

The mailing list I'm on is up in arms over how bad they thought that last scene was. I'm just a lurker there so I don't want to get into a big argument with them.

They seem to think that just because Scully welcomed Mulder back to work and they were talking about the case that meant they hadn't had any contact with each other for the two weeks that had passed. I didn't get that impression at all. Just because someone says, "Are you glad to be back at work?" doesn't mean this is the first time they've seen them. You can still welcome them back even if you see them every day or live with them in the same house. You're just welcoming them back to their regular routine as a notification that they are on the mend from illness and everything is ok now. I thought it seemd fine to me.

Also they thought it seemed like they were just talking about the case for the first time and I didn't get that impression either. It just sounded like follow up info and I thought M&S had probably talked about it before.

So what do you all think? Everyone on the list was really knocking this scene which I thought was very sweet and I can't rant to them about it. So I'll rant here! ;-)
