That's very interesting, detoured. I hadn't read anything about that scene until I read this post, but I definitely had the impression they hadn't seen each other. But just as quick as I thought it I dismissed it, 'cuz like you said it just wouldn't "fit" that they hadn't seen each other. Perhaps she was just surprised he was at work, maybe he wasn't supposed to be yet. So much for ambiguity. Again. It's really unnecessary in a scene like this - unless, UNLESS - it was meant to imply they weren't hanging out together and had not been together since the hospital scene. Which just doesn't work. You know, I'm beginning to hate the word "ambiguity"!!! I don't want to be told everything, every little detail, but this is getting really tiresome.

But, back to the implication they hadn't seen each other, for several days at least. There was another episode this year that did the same thing. I'm thinking it must be Millenium without going and looking it up. There are several lines of dialogue that tells us in no uncertain terms they didn't spend Christmas together and have not seen each other for several days after Christmas to when this ep. begins. That's hard to understand too. Especially since they had such a nice Christmas together last year. "Nice" is referring to *after* the events in the haunted house, lol.

ahhh, I see. That was part of the motivation for the kiss. Mulder had been away from Scully just too long!! LOL!
