I'm wondering whether the real reason they didn't release it is that it was written by Bill. They didn't release "Downtown Suzie" either. It was finally released on Metamorphosis in the mid-70s, but that was Klein's project. Not only did the Stones have nothing to do with it, but they wanted a much better project (Bill's Black Box, that he talks about in his Stone Alone book).

The only one of Bill's songs that was released by the Stones is "In Another Land" (on Majesties). I suspect that this happened ONLY because it was a very difficult period with the band, with Brian, Mick and Keith in and out of court/jail. They never really knew who was going to be in the studio at what time. I don't think Bill's song would have made it onto the album under any other conditions.
