Im more certain that Brian did just that: Pass out in the pool. After all, the damn thing was heated to 80 degrees or higher. I thought I would scald being in it, in fact it was warmer than the Gulf of Mexico when I swam there in Florida in 1964. Hot water causes you to relax to the point of sleep, and yes, Brian WAS an alcoholic!! He also had other health problems, but when you put your arms round someone and can feel their liver bulging from their side, something is definitely very very wrong!! And I told him, but he just snapped at me. My mother was a vicious alcoholic, and then I had to go and marry one. He wasnt vicious, more like the cinematic Arthur without the money, but a drunks a drunk. And Brian was a drunk from quite a young age. The drugs didnt help him, they just made him more paranoid, but the booze is what killed him. And caused, along with his manic depression, the oddly orbiting personality so many people have described. Brian really wasnt that complicated, if you took time to get to know him. You just had to be there for all the different sides of him, and then he was easy to understand. But then, Im used to alcoholics. No damn wonder I dont drink!
