...okay, I am a plot-worshiper. I write strong, subtle plots with lots of visual elements. This allows me to write very close to the Buffy canon. I can see where Joss is going with things. And I know he and I have the same talent for plotting. He is my virtual mentor, the only person I have ever looked up to in television. But his recent S7 commentary showed more than anything that I can see the bullshit when he starts tossing it around, too. CC and others have had their moments...but JW is a master at (as you noted) the art of the comic book style. I expect him to live up to his potential. And for the last two years he's failed to do that.

Word on the spoiler streets is he is going with the classic comic book ending for Angel, btw. However, I hope that he is foilering people and that he is actually going to wrap it all up...do something that will reverse this entire Season of Angel...AND sets the stage for movies with any cast combination. I won't tell you what I think he will do at this time...in case you are NOT spoiled. I am more and more convinced that even if he doesn't negate the season at the end...he still plans to do so...I am sure of it.

If he does what I think he WILL do...he will go back to genius in my book.

And...BDM...come ON...you don't seriously think that a Buffy/Angel ending is canon do you? Joss isn't a fan of that ship AT ALL. He only gives tidbits now and then to keep the B/A fans mollified...he's stated over and over that he personally can't comprehend how anyone sees B/A belonging together (look what he has her point out about the relationship in Chosen...look at Waiting in the Wings when he mocks the fans who hold onto to a failed relationship as if it was sacred and tells them via Angel to "just move on.") AND...you...you say you still believe JW is innovative...how can you possibly reconcile that opinion with the most cliched ending ever conceived? I think my main problem with the B/A supporters isn't just their inability to see the stark subtext of a very flawed relationship but their complete lack of imagination in putting prince and princess together at the end.

JW may be in my hack books right now...but I still give him more credit than THAT.
