Subject: Is evil a learned behavior? or is it inherited?

Something a friend and I debate all the time. While I dont really follow the Harry Potter series - I have only watched a couple of the movies. And I don't know Hellboy at all - I will add my thoughts.

I have no bleepin idea. LOL. I cannot figure it out - if its in literature or in real life. My kids are very opposate, my oldest craves order - the youngest, only wants to question it.I like to think we are raising them in a solid foundation, Mike and I are separated but we are still parents together. I am hoping they will learn about cooperation but I understand some lessons won't show till adulthood.

I was raised in a hell house. With out going into specifics or details, please understand why - but I grew up with no direction or self esteem. It wasn't until I met certain people who put me on a path to wellness (which I am still walking!!!). I am the youngest of 5, and for many reasons I dont have any dealings with any of my siblings. I do however, have relationships with my siblings children, who do not have dealings with thier parent. My siblings, in my opinion, are very much like my father and not good people. NOt the kind of people I want around my kids. Most of my neices and nephews were not raised with my brothers - thats why I credit them with growing up good.

I do think that mental illnesses are hereditary - and thats where inherited evil comes into play. I know one of my brothers is bi-polar, but it was not popular to have a mental illness way back when(still a problem) so instead the issue was swept under the carpet. Now I see one of my neices, the same brothers daughter, who was not raised with him since she was 4, is showing the same signs of bi-polar disorder. It worries me to no end.

So in answer to your question, I do think good/evil can be inhereted (levels of seritonin and the bodily functions that produce it) but I stongly feel the behaviour can be changed with medication and behaviour therapy.

Does Hellboy ever visit a pschologist?????

hehehehe
