I'm aware that the new season will be on in late September. I hear they do edit about 1-2 minutes per episode to fit in commercials which is disappointing. I got to see my well connected friend the other day, he had just got the whole season sent to him from the UK (transfered from PAL to NTSB of course). He wasn't into seeing them again so soon so he only let me see one so I asked for School Reunion naturally.

Tennant is good as the Doctor, seems more jokey than Eccelston was (miss that guy). The episode was run of the mill stuff, some CGI shots looked cheap (but this is DW after all). Sarah still looks great after 30 years, the hair looks better than it did in 1975!!! Loved all the dialogue between Dr. & Sarah and Sarah & Rose. A bit much for Sarah & Rose to get so catty with each other right off but writers love to have conflict amongst the good guys.

Loved all the references to Sarah eps. The Rose/Sarah competition as to who saw what monsters. Great job by Liz Sladen.

K9 always kinda bugged me. Made the Doctor's life too easy since he's smart & can shoot things. Nice to see him for one ep & with the original voice. Loved Rose's comment "why is it so disco?" LOL. And Mickey's "I'm the mechanical dog!"

What the Doctor said about needing to leave companions behind so as to not see them grow old rings true. But several lines seemed to suggest the Doctor & Sarah and the Doctor & Rose are lovers!!??!!

I know the old show was strickly no relationships as it was a "kid's show". I do think of the Doctor as not being into romantic relationships, just strong friendships. Now, the first Doctor (William Hartnell) in 1963 was travelling with Susan whom he called his granddaughter which implies he had had children (unless he was not her grandfather but only acted as such). Perhaps he got his romance done early in life & was over it. I suppose a romance with a human would be more painful as he'd eventually lose a lover instead of a friend. Romana would have been an ideal mate & maybe that happened off screen, who knows.

Having the Doctor stay the same (realtively speaking) makes him dull I suppose but too much change could ruin things. The old show didn't have much character development. This show wants to compeat with the current drama & sci-fi shows that are loaded with it. Episodic shows of the past in which no one ever changes are a thing of the past. I'm torn. If the Doctor is to get romantic with Rose, do it all out. Not the teasing or off screen realtionship of Mulder & Scully. I bet the Doctor could just about come around to kissing Rose when she winds up leaving at season's end.

I've heard some eps in this season are considered bad by the fans, not as good as last season. Let me know & we'll talk it all up in October/November.
